Tony R Posted January 29, 2013 Share #21 Posted January 29, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought a Monochrom, not the least able to afford it, and after several days, I will not look back. It is a fantastic camera.
Advertisement Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Hi Tony R, Take a look here BUY THE MONOCHROME. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LeicaPassion Posted January 30, 2013 Share #22 Posted January 30, 2013 I've owned canon, and various R and M bodies. For me, the MM is the absolute best. My only complaint is that I cannot afford a second. MM.
Hodc Posted January 30, 2013 Share #23 Posted January 30, 2013 Maybe your hesitation has to do with the frase you use: 'actually need a MM'. What does that mean for you? Do you want one or do you need one? Two very different motivations. If you want one there could be no need. But if you need one, for work, there is maybe less hesitation. I know this is very arbitrary, but it always takes care of me. Harry
Paulu Posted January 30, 2013 Author Share #24 Posted January 30, 2013 Well, after all that I bought the Monochrom. It is still in the box and I will unpack it later. Thank you for all the comments. I will report how I get on with it.
IkarusJohn Posted January 30, 2013 Share #25 Posted January 30, 2013 Sounds like you're ready to walk out the door with your credit card. :-) Mine is sitting in its box, on my desk waiting for me to return in 10 days. Can't wait.
Paulu Posted February 7, 2013 Author Share #26 Posted February 7, 2013 So I got it. I took it out for the weekend. Got some lovely stuff, had to start to think in a different way about what I was looking at, what I was 'seeing'. Very interesting, occasionally frustrating, but overall a lovely camera to be lucky enough to own. Thanks for all the help.

jbl Posted February 7, 2013 Share #28 Posted February 7, 2013 My feelings exactly Mine too. Say what you will about converting digitally after the fact or will the 240 converted to black and white be "better" or sharper than the MM, I love using the MM. It's such a special camera. -jbl
Bill W Posted February 7, 2013 Share #29 Posted February 7, 2013 As others have stated when using the MM, I think about B&W subject matter and I really enjoy that experience. It is the body loaded with B&W film. My M9 is the body loaded with color film. Crazy but it makes sense to me.

It is the body loaded with B&W film. My M9 is the body loaded with color film. Crazy but it makes sense to me. Exactly my thought process as well. I even went with the chrome M9 to match how I shot film.
arminw Posted February 9, 2013 Share #32 Posted February 9, 2013 The Monochrom is not an easy camera to use, and you really need to be abel to process the files in a certain way. Once you've mastered the shooting and processing, well the images you are ending up with are simply AMAZING !!!!

IWC Doppel Posted February 9, 2013 Share #34 Posted February 9, 2013 I was kindof hoping the enthusiasm for the MM would die down with the M240, I am waiting for secondhand prices to become interesting. I think I will have a long wait
