Leica Monochrom unprocessed file

Recommended Posts

Hi all, this is my very first post in this forum, my name is Francesco, I'm from Italy and I shooted from I was 5yo. Today I have a Nikon D800, but in the past I had also other reflex. Today I shoot also with Canonflex, a very old film-reflex. I'm interested in understatndi quality of native not retouched file from Leica Monochrom.

I read several comments on quality of RAW/jpg file, can someone share with me a non-retouched file?

I'm just curious to understand quality of file, without any kind of usage in Photoshop or Lightroom.

I noticed, on LFI or flickr, that some photo are so clear, to seems "unreal". I don't understand if it's conseguence of terrific postprocessing, or if Leica Monochrom is a terrific camera

In any case, this camera is in my wish list

Thank you very much!

Grazie

Francesco:)

Hello Francesco, welcome to the forum.

If you spend two minutes with google you'll find several examples of unprocessed MM files.

It is an amazing camera. I can certainly attest that it's image quality derives not from any kind of fancy post-processing but simply from innately rich files.

All the best...

Could be one, or the other.

Probably both.

Doubtful it's neither.

On a serious note, postprocessing is of great significance, as is proper exposure. Steep learning curve on both.

I think it's apparent that image quality of posted samples has been improving as time goes on. So even among experienced Leica users -- the purchasers of this camera fall into this group -- it's been a learning experience.

Probably already answered many times. Sorry for the repeat.
Does anyone know whom to contact at Apple in regard to getting the D-Lux 7's raw files recognized in MacOS High Sierra? (2011 computer; High Sierra is latest compatible OS.)
Apple says to contact Leica because the camera files may not be compatible with the OS. That doesn't ring true to me...
Or would it be best just to forget about it?
      Thanks!

I just now happened to stumble upon this essay on the M10 Monochrom which is accompanied by a nice set of sample images.
In thinking about the concept of a black and white only digital camera in general and about the M10 Monochrom in particular, I was smitten with a thought that I cannot shake free of:  The M 10 Monochrom may well be the pinnacle of the digital M camera.
It is going to be an awfully hard act to follow.  If anyone can best the M10 Monochrom, it would have to be the gents and ladies of Werzlar.
