mvravr Posted December 29, 2012 Share #1 Posted December 29, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have shot the M9 for two years almost exclusively on DNG, and the iPicture program on the iMac would display a preview of the files, and would even open them without any issues. However, when I upload the DNG files from the Monochrom, it is not able to recognize them. JPEG files from the Monochrom are recognized and displayed right away. This would make it a logistical nightmare to know which files to transfer to Lightroom without being able to preview them. Any hints?
Advertisement Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Hi mvravr, Take a look here iMac not recognizing RAW files from Monochrom. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MarkP Posted December 29, 2012 Share #2 Posted December 29, 2012 I was about to post on a similar problem. I only shoot DNGs and have the latest version of LR (v4.3) on my MacMini set-up which also does not display the Monochrom images in the import window but only DNG icons. Once imported they are fine, but it is annoying as I cannot select what to import and therefore need to bring over the lot for every import. However, my MacBook Pro still has v4.2 which displays the Monochrom images in the import window. I assume I haven't set something in LR 4.3 but can't work out what it is. coz Posted December 30, 2012 Share #3 Posted December 30, 2012 That's strange. I have LR 4.3 on a macbook and I'm seeing the MM dng files on the import preview page? I just set it up yesterday but I didn't alter any settings to get it to work. It must be something simple.
jonoslack Posted December 30, 2012 Share #4 Posted December 30, 2012 Apple doesn't support the DNG files from the Monochrom yet (apparently they will). This means that the preview screen in LR4 WILL see them, but anything else which relates back to the core processing of the mac will NOT. (and therefore the iPicture import won't either). I think it's a matter of time - in the mean time it's better to do the import from LR4 itself (which should show the images properly). all the best

woopie Posted December 30, 2012 Share #7 Posted December 30, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) The same problem but on the same SD I found half DNG perfectly readable and half not readable. I still have pictures on the SD before importing to Lightroom... Why? A nightmare... Bye. Marcello

MarkP Posted December 31, 2012 Share #9 Posted December 31, 2012 The problem just fixed itself:). I don't know how.
woopie Posted December 31, 2012 Share #10 Posted December 31, 2012 hi, but did you install LR4.3 again? The problem is that half pictures are readable and half not, so I realized the problem is in LR4.3. Thanks. marcello
MarkP Posted December 31, 2012 Share #11 Posted December 31, 2012 No. I did not re-install LR4.3. If I let LR4.3 select import straight off the SD card itself I got the DNG icons. If, within the import window, I selected the specific folder within the SD card containing the files it gives me the preview images. This was what I did before with the M9 but LR 4.2 did not automatically select the card itself and attempt to open the images ...obvious really in retrospect:rolleyes:
