Stein K S Posted April 7, 2013 Share #143 Â Posted April 7, 2013 Since my first Canon bought in 1976, the 35mm seems still to be my choice. I do keep a 28 Elmarit ASPH, two 50 mm (Elmar-M and the Cron) and the last 90 2,8... in addition to the Cron 35 IV and the newly aquired 35 Lux asph pre-FLE. Â Shooting just a few shots with the Lux, I do believe that this lens will "occupy" the M9 the most (70%+). Just beautiful! Even though I will never depart from my silver Cron 35 IV... Â As to the other lenses, the 28 is still my number two (28 and 35 are not too close in my eyes)... the beautifully soft Elmar-M possibly number three... with the 90 being the least used (should sell it... but then again that lens in silver chrome is a jewel in itself...). Â Character wise I find the 28 Elmarit ASPH to be sticking out the most by being the most modern... The 28 Cron asph could be a future choice. Â Regards, Stein

pop Posted November 11, 2013 Share #149 Â Posted November 11, 2013 I'm doing this off the top of my head, but I think this is it:Â 135mm 2.8 135mm 4.0 90mm 2.8 75mm 2.5 60mm 4.0 (?) 50mm 2.5 50mm 2.8 Collapsar 40mm 2.0 (mostly on the sony nex) 35mm 2.5 24mm 3.5 (?) mirekti Posted November 11, 2013 Share #150 Â Posted November 11, 2013 Sounds about right. Is there ever a 90 in your future? Â I don't think so. I'd like to go light (it's really really hard to resist the GAS though ), and have my camera on me as much as possible. Even though I'd like to have a 90mm Cron, and perhaps a 50mm APO or Nocti, I believe I'll keep my kit as it is. Â I started with a 35 FLE and 75 Cron, and the decision was not to go with more than three lenses. Than, as a former Canon user I found myself in situations where I needed longer than 75, and maybe a bit wider than 35mm. I found this to be case in some 20-25% of my shooting. I mean, I was perfectly fine with 35 and 75 only, but sometimes there was this thought in my head: Oh, what would this look like if I could go wider. GAS, right? ...I'd say partialy. Â As I couldn't decide whether to get a 21mm SEM or WATE I put it on hold and bought a 135mm APO. This might well be the lens I'll use the least, but in some situations it is a real saver. Maybe the lens isn't so popular, but it has it's magic, and for example no other current L lens gives such compression when needed so no regrets at all. Â 135mm seemed as a reasonable option to me as I considered 90mm too close (many might disagree) to 75mm. Based on my past habits, I believe the total usage of lenses would be spread somehow like this: 21SEM or WATE 20%, 35mm 35%, 75mm Cron 35%, 135 APO 10%. Â Some days I really enjoy 35mm and don't put it off for a whole day, than the other time Cron comes into the play. Â Anyhow, I still have a lot to learn to master current lenses and that's what I really enjoy. I made myself believe that if I cannot get a photo out of those three, four lenses I'd better drop it all. The first two only should be enough, and we know some shot one lens only. Â What thrilles me more and more is that even now, six months after I changed to Leica system I'd come home, transfer the photos on the laptop and I get supprised with what the lens had deliverd. Â I guess I got too excited over the lenses I own as this is my longest post on this forum.
algrove Posted November 12, 2013 Share #151 Â Posted November 12, 2013 The 90/2.8 Elmarit-M is a super star 90 for very little money compared the the APO90 and takes E46 filters like your 35 FLE.
IWC Doppel Posted November 12, 2013 Author Share #152  Posted November 12, 2013 What a good idea, it will be interesting for me and others I am sure. If only to feel less guilty about too much glass  I currently have ;  21 Elmarit 2.8 ASPH 24 Elmarit 2.8 ASPH 28 Summicron 2.0 ASPH 35 Summilux 1.4 ASPHERICAL 35 Summaron 2.8 50 Summilux 1.4 pre ASPH 50 Elmar-m 2.8 75 Summilux 1.4 (on its way)  Plus a 50 1.0 Nictilux in the new year.
