IWC Doppel Posted January 25, 2013 Author Share #122 Â Posted January 25, 2013 A quick update, Â 61 respondants so far, 11 with 1-3, 14 with 4-5, 10 with 5-9 and a staggering 25 with over 10. A total of over 600 lenses so far with the average for all being 10 lenses. Â Come on JeffoJeffo time to confess

!Nomad64 Posted January 25, 2013 Share #124 Â Posted January 25, 2013 It would be ideal if one could restrict to just three and if one can do with just one she's walking in the footsteps of HCB... Â Cheers, Bruno
algrove Posted January 26, 2013 Share #125  Posted January 26, 2013 I heard a a top pro say that if you want to create your own style then stick to just one prime lens. Because this lens will keep the proportions of every photograph you take the same. Interesting. However this has inspired me to keep the number of lenses I have to a minimum. Voigtlander 21mm color scopar. 40% 35 mm Leics summarit. 50% 90mm Leica summicron. 10%  I am looking to maybe upgrade the 21mm voigtlander to an Elmarit and the 35 mm summarit to a summilux at some point which would be nice. But I would like to keep the same number of lenses.  Heck, this way you can just buy a ton of 50's and still keep that personal style.
efreed2754 Posted January 26, 2013 Share #126 Â Posted January 26, 2013 Thanks IWC (is that a watch company BTW)? Â Believe one or more had many, many lenses. If so it distorts the average (mean). Suggest calcing the median as it would be more meaningful. Â Thanks for doings this and for asking the question.

IWC Doppel Posted January 26, 2013 Author Share #128 Â Posted January 26, 2013 Yes your right I'll post some more raw data for others to play clever stats with. I think excel has a few functions I'll have a look. I have guessed some where they have said 'more than' or 'over' Â Do keep the information coming, don't be shy if you have only 2 lenses or over

farnz Posted March 12, 2013 Share #131 Â Posted March 12, 2013 I wonder if the new M will bring in some smaller collections ? I'd assume larger since it's compatible with R lenses and pretty much any other lenses designed for the 135 fomat. Â Pete.

IWC Doppel Posted March 16, 2013 Author Share #136  Posted March 16, 2013 What a good idea, it will be interesting for me and others I am sure. If only to feel less guilty about too much glass  I currently have ;  21 Elmarit 2.8 ASPH 24 Elmarit 2.8 ASPH 28 Summicron 2.0 ASPH 35 Summilux 1.4 ASPHERICAL 35 Summaron 2.8 50 Summilux 1.4 pre ASPH 50 Elmar-m 2.8 75 Summilux 1.4 (on its way)  Plus a 50 1.0 Nictilux in the new year. I will probably sell the 21 and one 50 in the new year.  I will get my spreadsheet out and look to report back on focal lengths and numbers owned by those who are kind enough to post.  Well I have just added another 50, a Summilux VIII pre ASPH, with built in hood and 70cm minimum focus so my VII will probably go (essentially the same lens)
