Trouble loading film in the M3

Lately when I load new film I'm having trouble getting it to hook up and start catching on the little gear teeth to advance. After much finagling and trying to tighten it up on the reels I can get it to start advancing, but it's being a real pain in the butt.

Is it possible for things to get out of adjustment to cause this or am I just crappy at loading film? (I didn't have this issue for the first year I owned the camera.)

Hello Je,

With the rewind knob extended & the rewind lever in the front vertical: Do you remember to take up the slack in the film cassette snugly but not too tightly while you are aligning the film over the sprocket teeth before closing the back & putting on the base plate?

Film cassettes vary in how tightly the film inside is packed.

What about a quick-load? They work very well w/ an M3. Still have to snug & align though.

Besy Regards,

Michael
