algrove Posted September 3, 2013 Share #21 Â Posted September 3, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) When it's not there - you realise how functional it is for putting the lens on quickly! That was one thing I didn't like about Zeiss lenses. The blue dot is so much harder to see in dim light. Â Boy, are you right there. In dim light I could about never make the blue dots out. peterm1_Leica Posted September 19, 2013 Share #22 Â Posted September 19, 2013 I had this happen to one of my Leica lenses too. I decided to improvise. I went to a store that sells stuff for sewing, knitting etc and found some seamstress's steel pins with various different color hard plastic spheres on the blunt end. I chose a set of pins that had spheres of the same or very similar size to the missing Leica dot. The next problem was to get the dot off. This is did by slicing it in half using a Dremel power tool and tiny abrasive cutting wheel. In effect I cut the top of the sphere off leaving the remainder on the pin. That gave me a nice half dot ready to be stuck in place - which I then did. Worked well. I have since occasionally seen the dots on sale in eBay.
