I have a new silver 50 Lux Asph and the collapsible lens hood it sticky. The hood feels a bit loose and tends to freeze if I don't keep it it perfectly parallel to the lens axis when I pull it. It is not a big deal, but it is not possible to pull the lens hood in single motion, which is annoying. Is this normal?

at the beginning mine was the same, I guess its because of the material used at the inside to minimize reflections. but it gets better really quick. just try to grab it with all fingers around and pull gently

This hood is not the most fortunate part of the design. It's redeeming feature is that it locks in place, but that does no take away from the fact that it is too short to be effective and that the sliding mechanism is a bit hohum.

The other lens with sliding hood I have is the 90AA and the implementation is perfect - simple and reliable. This is surprising considering the 90AA is an older design.

Glad to know that it improves with use.
