jip Posted October 23, 2012 Share #1  Posted October 23, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Got myself a M9 Grey steel version with little under 2200 shutter count.  Looks like new, can't wait till I've got time to go out and try it! Maybe later today.  Now I've got a M8.2 and M9 with: Elmarit-M 28mm ASPH. Summicron-M 50mm Summicron 90mm (1973) SF 58  Not sure if I should keep the M8.2 I do really like it for Black and white like these I shot last week: (no logon required) Welcome, dear visitor! tobey bilek Posted October 24, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted October 24, 2012 I kept mine. I figured how to tune the colors to the M9 and will got on better with it. Â It still makes prints like always.

Mr. Doug Posted October 24, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted October 24, 2012 Keep the 8.2 for B&W and the M9 for color. Heck...there was a lot about the 8.2 that I liked more than my M9.

FTI Posted October 24, 2012 Share #11 Â Posted October 24, 2012 Gefeliciteerd! Â If you can afford to hang onto the M8.2 you should. I think it may make a great companion. Or if you want to invest in more glass, then you can sell your M8.2 to finance that too right? Â Happy shooting.
andyedward Posted October 24, 2012 Share #12  Posted October 24, 2012 Are these already Collectors and Historica  Gerry  In 10 years only a few m9's and m8's will continue to work, so the will be Historica (and paperweights) rather than Collectors. Whats the point of owning a camera if you cannot take pictures with it?  Only film M's can be classified as usable collectors items for decades to come

Whats the point of owning a camera if you cannot take pictures with it? Only film M's can be classified as usable collectors items for decades to come  indeed the M8 may not fit into this category, but i feel Leica is going to keep the M9 series alive, now with the MM and M-E (both based on the M9 design, with the exception of the MM sensor, but the internal are still the same?) the M9 will be usable for the decades to come.
jip Posted October 25, 2012 Author Share #15  Posted October 25, 2012 Thanks for all the replies guys, I'm still not quite sure if I should hang on to the M8.2 My feeling says KEEP IT, but my bank account says otherwise. Ha Ha.  I got this M9 for (I think) a great price: 3100 euro including all the papers and box and stuff that comes with a NEW M9, it only made just under 2200 images. And still has a few months of warranty left.  I wasn't planning on buying one soon, but I saw this price and couldn't resist.  Now since I have a 28mm 50mm and 90mm I do really get the urge to get a 35mm, because I do mis the '28mm on M8.2 focal length'  Lately i've only been shooting B&W and I must say the only picture I did make with the M9 thus far I really like.  I wanted to post it on here, but since I don't got the mac where the picture is on I'll post the 500px URL: 500px / Photo "Macro" by Jip van Kuijk  This is a vertical crop from a landscape photo. (full height) Post processed the uncompressed DNG in Aperture 3.

jip Posted October 25, 2012 Author Share #17 Â Posted October 25, 2012 I notice that I find it difficult to get good sharpness on pictures focused to infinity, if I just adjust the focus slightly away from infinity I get better results, this I concluded when taking images of trees that were more than 150 meters away from me. at F5,6. With al of the following lenses: Summicron-M 50mm - Summicron 90mm and Elmarit-M 28mm ASPH. Â What to do?
jaapv Posted October 25, 2012 Share #18 Â Posted October 25, 2012 You might want to have Leica check sensor - flange distance.
jip Posted October 25, 2012 Author Share #19  Posted October 25, 2012 You might want to have Leica check sensor - flange distance.  How do I do this, I've never bought anything Leica NEW except for the SF 58 flash  Where in The Netherlands would I do this? jip Posted October 25, 2012 Author Share #20 Â Posted October 25, 2012 It looks like the lenses all focus OVER infinity, with my first M8 I had the problem that they didn't reach infinity. Â How do they solve this, since it's not a problem with the rangefinder but more with the distance from the sensor to flange. Â Are they going to move the sensor?!
