Leonardo_alves Posted October 23, 2012 Share #1 Posted October 23, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I shot 99% of the time with B&W film, but sometimes I try some color negative film too. I´m sharing two images of a public market of a small town here in Brazil. It´s another reality... Comments are always welcome! Jerren Posted October 23, 2012 Share #2 Posted October 23, 2012 I like these Leonard. I knew immediately these must have been film shots. Then I scrolled back up to your description and just said, "yep." I need to get some portra for my new m2 immediately! Very nice images!

But the new Portra 160 is very good too... So, go to Ebay and buy some of them! Show the results later... Leonardo

Jack7 Posted October 24, 2012 Share #6 Posted October 24, 2012 Nice shot! I cannot decide which one I like most. They are both excellent. I'm going to visit a friend in Barcelona next month and I'm looking foward to visit one of city's big markets to get some good photos. Maybe I will find a small present for him on the market, too. erl Posted October 25, 2012 Share #9 Posted October 25, 2012 Leonardo, I am viewing these pics on a tablet at Dubai airport so it is not a calibrated screen. However I suspect either your film process is off or your scanning needs correcting. There appears to be a strong cyan cast in both pics as well as a heavy dominance of the red (complementary) colour. Did you process the film yourself, or did a lab do it? Thanks for your comments! It was processed by a lab (but they´re very good)... Maybe the problem that you noticed is due to my scan and pos production (my screen is not calibrated either, and I can´t notice that)... I always have difficult to edit color in this kind of film (the calibration of monitor is crucial in the process)... I have a better workflow for B&W film... Cheers, Leonardo
erl Posted October 27, 2012 Share #11 Posted October 27, 2012 (edited) Leonardo, I just checked the images on my calibrated screen and the colour casts are still there. Look at the stone paving which I assume should be neutral. The reds are also over bright. This suggests to me, since you used a good lab, that your scanning is problematic. Depending on the scanning software you are using on the coolscan 5000, you may be better trying to correct it in P.S. It is not easy working out a good workflow, but once you do, it is a breeze. Below is a 10second 'fix'. that still need some work, but I hope you see what I mean. I suspect there is a red/cyan crossover in your scan that is not readily correctable. Hi Erl! Thank you for you explanation! I use Vuescan software on the coolscan... I Will try to scan other color negatives to understand It better...
