I bought the M8 around 10 months ago, nice camera but not overly exciting. It took me months to get the proper filters and code the lenses after I finally realized it was mandatory.

The sale of the M9 prompted me to order one, the M9P model in bright chrome. I figured 10 to 18 MP was a significant jump.

I have had a few prints made from the M9 and they are incredible . I ordered 11x141s from AiProLab which uses laser printers. They are so sharp it is hard to imagine. In that size, they look like medium format or better from film with a Hasselblad or 4x5. They simply could not be sharper and the colors/contrast are outstanding, better than Hassy.

Post processing was almost zero unlike what I have to do with Nikon files. I used the default sharpening of 25 and .7 radius in ACR and did no more. I figured I could only make it worse looking at it at 100%. I did cheat some on the mill race fence and did local extra sharpening because it was out of the depth of field, way out and I can not see it was done. The internet file did not get this extra sharpening.

I just ordered the economy prints which means I was responsible for color mgt. and everything else.

The internet does not do them justice.

And the M8 is not too bad now that I spent a year learning it. No issues at all with M9.

The M8 was capable of a lot.

The M9, a lot more.

Either with the latest processing software will blow your socks off if managed well during exposure.

PS: saying the Internet does not do an image justice will not inspire people to click your link. It is also somewhat misleading. While I agree that a good print is hard to beat; a good picture is great in any medium.

That's great to hear, and nice pics, Toby. My M9 is new to me, so I haven't had a chance to print yet, but I do my own printing usually at 12x18, and your thoughts are getting me excited to make my first print.

Toby these are lovely frames. I can imagine the prints being fantastic in the hand. When I got my first prints done I was blown away - at that point, as a novice, I understood how much more enjoyable getting prints is, to viewing on screen.

What paper do you prefer for these?

Also at 11x14 do you crop to fit the ratio, or float the image in the center. I was considering an 11x14 portfolio to house my prints.

Lastly, share some more from that location!
