!Nomad64 Posted October 17, 2012 Share #1  Posted October 17, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maybe this might be of some interest for some M9 users, so I'd like to share. I asked the following question to Leica customer service:  Dear Sirs,  now that the M9 & M9-P are about to be discontinued in favour of the M-E and the M, I'd kindly ask you to please advise if there's an expected deadline past which existing M9s cannot be anymore upgraded to M9-P.  Thanks and regards, Bruno H.Michele   This is their reply:   Dear Mr. Michele,  many thanks for your inquiry. For the moment we do not have an information that the M9-P upgrade will be canceled. No deadline fixed yet. But as the time goes by an end will come some when.  Mit freundlichen Gruessen / kind regards  Uwe Stiller Leica Camera AG Customer Care

Fang Posted October 17, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted October 17, 2012 Thanks for the info. Â If they reduce the upgrade price - I will be glad to upgrade but with the current upgrade price I will rather keep the money to pay for my Leica M (I have pre-ordered my Leica M). hoppyman Posted October 17, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted October 17, 2012 I was in Solms for the mid 2009 Forum meeting and got my M8 upgraded at the original price. After the M9 announcement and discontinuance of the M8 the price for the upgrades was reduced sharply and finally the option was stopped. Â However I should point out that Solms Customer Service also provided next business day delivery for me, plus a loan camera and servicing/adjustment of two of my lenses later couriered internationally back to me, all for no additional fees at all. So I felt that CS had given me the best possible service at that time and I had no complaints. Â I think the right approach for an M9P upgrade is to contact them first to book a window and confirm the availability and price at that time. Â It's inevitable that I will get the new M, but I might still have the M9P upgrade on my current camera (whether to be kept or sold). The complete servicing and adjustment to specifications and a new 12 months warranty are attractive extras. You have to do the sums for your own circumstances and preferences of course. visoflex Posted October 31, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted October 31, 2012 1250 Euros for the complete sapphire screen, top and bottom metalwork, service and warranty extension. However, be advised that it could take a while, as I have just received this from the service people. Â Â "...I just got informed by our workshop that there will be a delay due to a missing spare part. As we do not have a delivery date for the part yet, I can not say for sure when the camera will be finished. Will keep you posted. Please excuse the inconvenience this is causing for you. Fang Posted December 14, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted December 14, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone has any latest news on the M9 to M9P upgrade and price? Â Thinking of sending mine in soon. Â Thank you in advance.
enboe Posted December 15, 2012 Share #8  Posted December 15, 2012 Fang,  I sent mine in the second week of last month. The form for selecting options listed a price of $1995 for the Package 2 upgrade. I was told by my dealer that the estimate came back at $1675, a pleasant surprise. I will try to remember to post the final price once my camera returns.  Eric  (crossing my fingers my M9P returns for Christmas)
Bill W Posted December 17, 2012 Share #9 Â Posted December 17, 2012 Very tempting. I am not interested in the M but extending the life of my M9 is worth considering. I guess I plain forgot about this option.
enboe Posted December 21, 2012 Share #10 Â Posted December 21, 2012 The price seems to have come down a bit. I just picked mine up from the dealer. Package 2, swapping silver chrome for black paint + sapphire screen was $1675, and took 42 days from drop-off to pick-up. It sure is pretty. Fang Posted December 21, 2012 Share #11  Posted December 21, 2012 Well - Tim - in his thread has reported that M9-P Black Paint is now discontinued.  http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/266087-m9-p-black-paint-discontinued.html   I am going to sent my M9 in for an upgrade ( + 1 year warranty) after Christmas. cataar Posted December 21, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted December 21, 2012 Be careful all - the 12 month warranty extension only applies if the camera is in its first two years of ownership.
Fang Posted June 27, 2013 Share #13 Â Posted June 27, 2013 Still have not sent my M9 for the upgrade. Understand from the Kuala Lumpur Leica Store that Leica have stopped the upgrade programme.
