La Morte Posted October 16, 2012 Share #1 Posted October 16, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just saw a new M-E at my Leica dealer in Johannesburg. I don't know why Leica just didn't call the color "battleship-grey" ? I must say after hearing so many comments about the color of this M, I quite like it. It is selling at R 64 000 here in SA. I must say after hearing so many comments about the color of this M, I quite like it. It is selling at R 64 000 here in SA. Streamlight Photography i love the colour too, although i could see why others may not like it. i'm just hoping it is very unpopular, so there will be lots on the 2nd hand market for me to choose from!
Guest borge Posted October 16, 2012 Share #3 Posted October 16, 2012 The color is OK but the bright silver dials are not in my opinion. I wish they was black or grey as well! They look a bit too flashy as they are.

andyedward Posted October 16, 2012 Share #5 Posted October 16, 2012 The color has been made to look deliberately s**t so there is even less chance of it stealing sales from the new M. The M-E looks a greyish green to me
billo101 Posted October 16, 2012 Share #6 Posted October 16, 2012 I think the colors are horrendous. They are much more beautiful colors of the M9 or M9P.
Peter H Posted October 16, 2012 Share #7 Posted October 16, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Having seen it in the flesh, I think its fine. Anyway, its a camera, not a piece of jewellery intended to pander to your vanity like an expensive watch!
CalArts 99 Posted October 16, 2012 Share #8 Posted October 16, 2012 Anyway, its a camera, not a piece of jewellery intended to pander to your vanity like an expensive watch! I bought my car not as a piece of jewelry to pander to my vanity and yet I could choose different colors.
algrove Posted October 16, 2012 Share #9 Posted October 16, 2012 Maybe they should go the route of the X-2, and offer various bright colors for those who do not want the stealth Army look.

Clickie McPete Posted October 22, 2012 Share #14 Posted October 22, 2012 No thanks on the color...camera sounds reasonable though. It's basically the same as an M9 right?
Jaybob Posted October 23, 2012 Share #15 Posted October 23, 2012 Having seen it in the flesh, I think its fine. Anyway, its a camera, not a piece of jewellery intended to pander to your vanity like an expensive watch! Just saw a M-E the DC store and I like it. It looks smaller to me (!) even right next to an M9-P. No Ms there though.
ramosa Posted October 23, 2012 Share #16 Posted October 23, 2012 it's quite ugly and has an awful rear LCD--but i would like one
colonel Posted October 24, 2012 Share #17 Posted October 24, 2012 I like the M-E. Too much dispute about what comes down to taste Unlike the M8 Panda it's not garish. I hope it comes down a bit at dealers to allow more photographers entry into the wonderful M system.
teids Posted October 24, 2012 Share #18 Posted October 24, 2012 Saw it at my local dealer and I liked it. To me the grey looked grey and not greenish as some have described. I might be a bit color blind, i don t know
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted October 25, 2012 Share #19 Posted October 25, 2012 Same here! Saw it in shopwindow a few days back and was quite surprised how pleasant it was. Contrary to quite a few remarks I read about it in the past few weeks. I would get it in an instant if I didn´t have something similar already ... jaques Posted October 25, 2012 Share #20 Posted October 25, 2012 I also saw one at my dealer.... is this a miracle for Leica? What's going on? Product availability? Unheard of... These cameras were only announced a month ago and they actually already widely available! Who would believe it? It seems Leica realised there is not much point in opening a bunch of elite luxury flagship stores if you are you have no stock... I like the colour but it isn't quite right. The red dot clashes and the dials should be ash grey or something.
