sfage Posted October 14, 2012 Share #1 Posted October 14, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) "Mannequin" is a photographical series exploring memes of North American sexuality within the confines of spirituality. This work explores the subconscious conflicted discourse between ethics, morality and desire, but more importantly, our relationship with "correct" physiology. It is also an exposé upon the early twenty-first century artifice of photography, the denial of nudity, the feminine form and elaborate fashion. While the first work in this series is, upon the surface, an illustration of solitude, questions arise about our inner being, social environment and emotional detachment in a decreasing natural setting. The conflict between flora and Godliness versus eroticism and the present multi media subculture is brought to the fore.

pauledell Posted October 14, 2012 Share #2 Posted October 14, 2012 Shane, A lovely picture and an interesting narrative. I believe that morality should always be a consideration in a photo, I have seen some tastefully staged nudes that do not offend me. I would in no way take any myself, but I have seen Weston's work and a friend of mine who is generally a landscape and nature photographer has taken some fine work. stuny Posted October 15, 2012 Share #3 Posted October 15, 2012 Shane - Delightful, a bit whacky and surreal.
sfage Posted October 15, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted October 15, 2012 Not half as whacky as the people looking at me shooting it... and then I said under my breath: "well, it worked upon you... didn't it?"
