njleach Posted October 11, 2012 Share #1 ย Posted October 11, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently purchased these two and i'm getting incorrect aperture data recorded in the metadata. ย First column is actual aperture used, second is what was recorded in the metadata (as read by adobe bridge CS5 4.0.0.529), and third is what came up using this program as 'appr. aperture'. I am running firmware 1.196 on the M9-P. ย 1.4 1.7 1.5 1.7 1.7 1.5 2.0 2.0 2.0 2.4 2.4 2.5 2.8 2.4 2.5 3.4 2.8 3.0 4.0 3.4 3.5 4.8 4.0 4.0 5.6 4.8 4.5 6.7 5.7 5.0 8.0 8.0 6.0 9.5 9.5 6.5 11.0 11.0 7.0 13.0 13.0 7.5 16.0 16.0 8.0 ย My question is, is this just a software related issue and trying to find one that reads the files correctly, or do i have a problem with my M9-P and/or lens? Advertisement Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Hi njleach, Take a look here M9-P + 35mm 'lux FLE = incorrect aperture info in metadata. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Mr_Jones Posted October 11, 2012 Share #2 ย Posted October 11, 2012 The body has to guess the aperture as there is no electronic connection, since the camera can't tell how much available light you are exposing it's guesses can be very wrong. pop Posted October 11, 2012 Share #3 ย Posted October 11, 2012 You can find the answer to this and to many more questions in the M9 FAQ, i.e.: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/1673925-post48.html
mjh Posted October 11, 2012 Share #4 ย Posted October 11, 2012 There is a wealth of information about this and other, related issues to be found at the m8 metadata project. ย But yes, thereโs a reason the FAQ is called the FAQ and this surely is one of the most frequently posed questions. pop Posted October 12, 2012 Share #7 ย Posted October 12, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you all - I feel like a complete luddite ย You're welcome and please don't. There is so much to know about "our" camera that it can be really tough to know where to start. You've already found the answer to that: it's here where you start. ย You can't be a luddite; if you were one, you'd use fingerpaint on cave walls, I think.
