I received my Monochrom 8 days ago. It works beautifully. One problem. The charger will not charge the battery supplied. The battery will charge on my M 9 and M 8 chargers and my other batteries will charge on the Monochrom charger. What is at fault?

I had a similar issue with my M9P where some batteries would charge and some would not. I think there's a bad batch of batteries out there. I ordered one from B&H, that one didn't charge, I returned it, the replacement didn't charge, I returned it again and the new replacement just came today so I will check later on. I also ordered one from Amazon, that didn't charge, the replacement did, though.

Something is definitely up.

I think we have seen several reports that tell us that the design of the M9 charger is of simple and not very sophisticated design. Mine broke after 2,5 years but I got a new one without costs, good service and attitude from Leica I think.

It is a battery problem, exactly same as I experienced with M9P a few weeks back. The dealer will exchange the battery.

Central camera in Chicago sent a new one priority mail and after receipt, I returned the bad one.

The new battery does work in the M9 charger as did the M8 battery. I believe Leica has a batch of bad batteries.

I thought Leica justified the high price of their batteries by the meticulous quality control compared with the cheapo non OEM batteries.:)

My third replacement didn't work either. I've now purchased five batteries and gotten one that works. They seem to fail differently. I've had two that just won't light the charger lights at all and two that caused both lights to start blinking at the same time.

I cannot get over the cognitive dissonance of a Leica battery with type in Russian which translates to "Made in China". :) (Actually, only one of mine is like that. The original!)

Never had a battery or charger problem. Life is good with the Leica.

I don't know if you are having the same problem I have, but I've discovered the charger supplied with my Monochrom will not charge a battery that has less than 50% charge. The battery will charge in the charger received with the M9 and the Monochrom charger will charge batteries that have greater than 50% charge left. Leica USA (Carmen Vargas) will give me a new charger, just have to return the bad one.
