colorflow Posted March 16, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just received email from NJ that lens registration is backed up 6 to 8 weeks. Assuming someone is doing that part-time, say 4 hours/day, and it takes 5 minutes to enter the data, that would say Leica USA has a backlog of about 1500 to 2000 lenses waiting to be registered! Great news for Leica, not so great for those waiting for the coding vouchers, Â Alan
ho_co Posted March 17, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 17, 2007 Alan-- WOW! Â Thanks for posting. As you say, it's great to hear that Leica is doing that kind of business. Â Although your point is good that the backup will slow down processing of the filter authorizations and lens coding vouchers, in point of fact it probably won't make that much difference; if we had the paperwork we need, we would just be feeding it back into the same delayed, overworked cycle. Â How ironic! Â --HC

So end of April would be the latest to buy a new lens and be able to use the vouchers unless Leica extends the valid dates. Personally I just mailed a registration in, 8 weeks will be still ok. ho_co Posted March 17, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted March 17, 2007 Good point. Â And while they may extend the date for using the vouchers, we obviously can't count on it. Â --HC
scott kirkpatrick Posted March 17, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted March 17, 2007 This has never made sense. They have extended the voucher issue date to June 30, 2007, but each voucher is printed with an expiration date of June 30, 2007. I'll bet June 29, 2007 will be a really crazy time at Leica USA unless they do something about this. Â scott
Guest WPalank Posted March 17, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted March 17, 2007 Here's a little secret. I had bought a new lens and Leica still had one of my lenses for coding waiting for a bayonet (which they replace) from Solms. Now Leica doesn't charge your credit card until they finish the work (excellent policy IMHO). So I called down there and they allowed me to fax a proof of purchase (the new lens) and the coding on the other lens was done as if I had sent in a voucher. Shhhhhhhh!
