IWC Doppel Posted September 20, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 20, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just to liven up the lens section, you are writing a list to Santa and you can have 5 lenses, you can't sell them and you can't add to this collection.... and you have to sell all your existing lenses. So the 5 you pick are the 5 you keep and that's it ! What woud you pick ? Here's my 5, not easy ! : 24mm Elmarit-M ASPH 35mm Summicron V1 8 element 35mm Summilux ASPHERICAL 50mm Summcron APO ASPH 50mm Noctilux F1 I will miss my 28 Summicron and 50mm Elmar-M and occasionally 21 and 90 I might change the f1 for my 28 and possibly swap the 50 APO for a late E46 pre asph 50 lux, 5 sounds quite a lot at first..... Carduelis Posted September 20, 2012 Share #9 Posted September 20, 2012 As I prefer light weight compact and sharp lenses for landscape and travel photography, and for carrying on lengthy hikes particularly in mountainous areas. Super Elmar 21 mm f3.4 Asph Summicron 35 mm (or keep existing Summarit 35 mm lens; difficult choice) 50 mm Summicron 75 mm Summarit f2.5 (already own) 90 mm Tele-Elmarit (thin) My choices pre-empt my intended puchase of an M9 and are also based on using my Ricoh GXR with 1.5 cropped sensor as a back up camera or one to take on strenuous hikes. I currently have an Elmar 24 mm f3.8 lens which is superb, but feel that the extra wide angle of 21 mm Super Elmar might prove more versatile. SJP Posted September 20, 2012 Share #13 Posted September 20, 2012 28 Summicron ASPH50 Summilux ASPH If I could only have two lenses it would be these:)Indeed and I have them, so Santa can stay in Finland or wherever. MATE is fun admittedly, not very versatile except in daytime. That is where the new M would help - if high ISO is up to scratch suddenly the MATE becomes a serious indoor option. Two more ..... anything wide & long
MarkP Posted September 20, 2012 Share #14 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) I should have said if I could only keep two:) I also have all of the lenses I listed, and a few more that I really like but probably don't really need (should I give them to charity?). My top five are those five that I'd keep. I've run out of lens GAS - no other lenses I want:eek: Edited September 20, 2012 by MarkP
Jaybob Posted September 20, 2012 Share #15 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) I would want to keep my Rigid Summicron, because it's pretty close to perfect. 90 ASPH Apo-Summicron-M 50 ASPH Summilux-M 28 ASPH Summicron-M 21 ASPH Elmarit-M all with silver finish (According to the rules, which I just re-read, I have to get rid of the rigid, so I'll go with the super expensive, and only available in BLACK, 50 APO-Summicron-M.) That was painless... Edited September 20, 2012 by Jaybob

brianv Posted September 20, 2012 Share #19 Posted September 20, 2012 I paid for the M9 and m Monochrom by selling off some lenses. And I still have ten 5cm F1.5 Zeiss Sonnars in Leica Mount alone. I'm not playing!
adan Posted September 20, 2012 Share #20 Posted September 20, 2012 Sorry - I have my five perfectly set. Don't want to sell, don't want to buy anything else.
