edmond_terakopian Posted September 16, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 16, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Greetings Folks, Well, the Leica's just too sharp!! I photographed a wedding and the groom's suit had an extremely fine pattern which at certain angles throws up patterns! Any recommendations for software or a plugin on a Mac (I use Aperture mainly, but do have Photoshop CS3) that works well?? Many Thanks, Edmond :-)

jaapv Posted September 16, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 16, 2012 Capture One is quite good. Aperture is rather notorious for moire and color aliasing, I fear. I know nothing about the ins and outs of Aperture, but in Photoshop I would paint out the moire with the color replacement brush and soften the structure with the blur tool. I'm not sure if CS3 already has the blur tool. In that case you must blur a layer and paint on a layer mask.
Jeff S Posted September 17, 2012 Share #3 Posted September 17, 2012 Moire tool in LR 4 works ok. Jeff
k-hawinkler Posted September 17, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 17, 2012 I am not impressed with moire removal in CS6. For D800E files Nikon's Capture NX 2 was doing an excellent moire removal job, CS6 wasn't. I only have a few weeks experience with Capture One, so I defer to Jaap. Good luck. edmond_terakopian Posted September 17, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted September 17, 2012 Thanks folks for the replies. Shall have a look and try out the suggestions. The Moiré slider in Aperture, which I didn't know existed as I've never needed it, actually does quite a decent job on some images; others it doesn't help at all! Cheers, Edmond :-)
