NBeddoe Posted September 10, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted September 10, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Â I've just put my 35mm lux for sale but I've noticed that there's a bit of oil smeared on the aperture blades and I don't want to lose to much value because of this so I'm thinking of having it serviced.. Does anyone know how much a CLA for this lens would cost at Leica in Europe?
Advertisement Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Hi NBeddoe, Take a look here Lens CLA. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted September 10, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted September 10, 2012 Try leaving the aperture fully open for a few days, the oil may clear itself.
enenrf Posted September 11, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted September 11, 2012 The oil won't clear off by itself, it will come back again. Its better to be CLAed before sale or pointed out when listing for sale.
earleygallery Posted September 11, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted September 11, 2012 Well I had oil on the blades of one of my lenses, took the advice above and it worked. Not returned so far either. So, worth a try I'd say.

jdlaing Posted September 11, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted September 11, 2012 I contacted Leica New Jersey and asked about CLA pricing. Carmen explained to me that they would not give a set price in advance of seeing the lens. They would have to have the lens in hand to do an estimate in case any repairs were needed. Â She also explained the time period was 5-6 weeks after receipt.
marknorton Posted September 11, 2012 Share #7  Posted September 11, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Last CLA I had was for a V4 35mm Summicron in Solms and the cost was about €250. They did an excellent job.
IWC Doppel Posted September 11, 2012 Share #8  Posted September 11, 2012 Malcom Taylor will be about £75 I suspect, possibly less depending on adjustment and lens complexity

ayewing Posted September 15, 2012 Share #10  Posted September 15, 2012 I sent a Tele Elmarit 90mm to Malcolm Taylor a year ago because the focusing was stiff and I thought it just needed a CLA. Actually Malcom diagnosed impact damage to the mount but after he worked his magic it came back with silky smooth focus, cleaned and lubricated and coded very neatly all for £150 in under three weeks. IWC Doppel Posted September 17, 2012 Share #11 Â Posted September 17, 2012 Malcolm definitely knows his onions so to speak. He has 6-bit coded and CLA'd a number of my lenses and returns them extremely well packaged in a small number of weeks, often less. Â He also has a pragmatism that comes with experience, meaning if you do have a more major problem you might get a solution that isnt 'replace everything'. Older generation I guess
