wda Posted September 5, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) My Epson R800 is modified for continuous ink flow and works well. I recently recharged the inks, made tests including head cleaning which gave clean results. Yet some of my A4 digital prints have an unwelcome narrow violet band just inboard of the leading edge. There is no contamination of my digital files. Can one of our experts suggest what is causing this banding, just one narrow strip, and how to cure it? Colour rendition is otherwise good using custom profiles.

hoppyman Posted September 5, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 5, 2012 I suspect that this may be related to the non-original inks and feed system and /or some print head damage. I don't think the prognosis is good for your hardware, sorry.
wda Posted September 6, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted September 6, 2012 I suspect that this may be related to the non-original inks and feed system and /or some print head damage.I don't think the prognosis is good for your hardware, sorry. It has worked perfectly until this session, with even accurate results. The inks are Permajet which are widely used. But that does not rule out your thoughts. Thank you. hoppyman Posted September 6, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 6, 2012 Understood David and of course these are just possibilities I thought of. If you are confident that the ink you have and your continuous feed system are working properly that tends to suggest head clogging or damage perhaps? A transport (paper feed) error might be another possibility. I haven't had that printer for some time but I don't recall any deep clean functionality? When my 3800 died I went through all of that without a resolution and eventually the print heads were diagnosed as needing replacement. The cost was prohibitive in my case. Have you done a simple nozzle check print?
wda Posted September 6, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted September 6, 2012 Geoff, yes, several times and the results are clean and perfect. Just before leaving for a week's vacation I received a helpful message from Permajet support. I will report back next week once I have tried their suggestion.
