Artek Posted August 24, 2012 Share #1 Posted August 24, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all, I am shooting with a D-Lux5 in RAW and JPG format. I noticed that while importing photos into LightRoom, the camera settings are present for a few seconds and then the file becomes a flat RAW. So, if I shot in B&W, while importing that file, it will appear B&W for 2-3 seconds, and then turn greenish... How can I conserve the camera presets while importing? I don't want to keep all the jpgs and raw files because they are just too large. I would prefer to have 1 file only. Thanks for any hints! Advertisement Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Hi Artek, Take a look here Lightroom postprocessing. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted August 24, 2012 Share #2 Posted August 24, 2012 RAW files are always colour (unless you're shooting with a Leica Monochrom) It's up to you to create the black and white image from that. If you choose to save a black and white jpg created from the camera, that won't affect the RAW file.
peterbengtson Posted August 25, 2012 Share #3 Posted August 25, 2012 you need to set Lightroom to display both the RAW and JPEG images. Right now it is only displaying the Raw file. the momentary glimpse you are seeing is the embeded jpeg preview before Lightroom makes its own preview image. Artek Posted August 25, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted August 25, 2012 Thanks for all your answers -- I realize that I have two file types saved and the option to import both, but I was wondering whether I could save some space by saving the raw + information on what the camera did to the file. I guess what I am starting to realize is that the processing that is done inside the camera and is saved as the .jpg file and there is no "settings file". BTW, I love my camera!!!!
