So this is what Leica call service...

I just got my M9 last month and I don't believe I got a disk in the package...I'm using Photoshop CS4....would Lightroom do a better job ?

It would probably do a better job than CS4, but CS6 would be even better than that (but of course its not free like Lightroom). If you already know your way around Photoshop then Ligthroom has little to offer.

My experiences with Adobe customer service over the years have been great. As many have already stated you could have solved this "dilemma" in one email to Adobe. I've run LR4 on 5 or 6 different computers by simple installing it on the new computer and using the registration key. This even worked when I switched from a PC to a Mac. I simply downloaded the Mac version and entered the registration key which Adobe was kind enough to email me since I had lost it. I hope this works for you too. Good luck.

What an interesting series of posts.

Yes, one can download Lightroom 4 from the internet using the code include in the M9P box and get the latest version.

Yes, one can save the downloaded programme and reinstall it at any time and get the latest update.

But not all owners of a digital Leica can be assumed by Leica to be computer literate, yes they can load and use a programme supplied on a disc but finding and saving the download and contacting Adobe if there is a problem, etc. might just be a bridge too far.

So why not include a Leica/Lightroom 4 disc that would cost less than 50 pence and include on the wrapper the Adobe numeric code. The programme would automatically lead you to the latest version and you would only have to ensure you didn't lose the disc. A much easier option than saving the software. And it would work, allbeit not with an update, even if one had no internet conection.

After all it's not rocket science and that's how it was with the M8 and Capture One.

just an observation.
