IWC Doppel Posted June 17, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 17, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have two 35mm Summilux's the 11874 ASPH. and the 11873 ASPHERICAL. The manual setting on my M9 can be set to 11873, but when importing pictures into LR it sees them as 35mm Summilux ASPH. So does not discriminate. I was also under the impression that I could not 6 bit code for the 11873, but maybe I can ? If so is there any way of LR recognising the correct 35mm Summilux ? Advertisement Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Hi IWC Doppel, Take a look here LR 4 camera profile recognition. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
IWC Doppel Posted July 16, 2012 Author Share #2 Posted July 16, 2012 I have not got very far with this, but following trying a 35mm Summilux ASPH.FLE I found on auto this shows as 35mm Summilux ASPH. via lightroom so no difference in recognition for all aspherical 35mm summilux lenses ? 01af Posted July 16, 2012 Share #3 Posted July 16, 2012 The manual setting on my M9 can be set to 11873, but when importing pictures into Lightroom it sees them as Summilux-M 35 mm Asph. So does not discriminate. That's because Adobe's software developers have not yet grasped the significance of the 2-bit frameline code in the LensType tag in the Leica MakerNotes section. Adobe Bridge and Lightroom cannot correctly identify any Leica lens that uses a zero frameline code in the LensType tag. I was also under the impression that I could not 6-bit-code for the 11873, but maybe I can? No, you cannot. If so is there any way of Lightroom recognising the correct Summilux-M 35 mm? As of now, for you as a user, there isn't. But you can always enter the correct metadata after the fact using an EXIF data editor such as Phil Harvey's ExifTool. That's what I always do which image files taken with uncoded lenses.

Ecar Posted July 16, 2012 Share #5 Posted July 16, 2012 As of now, for you as a user, there isn't. But you can always enter the correct metadata after the fact using an EXIF data editor such as Phil Harvey's ExifTool. That's what I always do which image files taken with uncoded lenses. FWIV, I have come across LensTagger (if I remember correctly through a forum member), which relies on ExifTool, but offers a very convenient interface to edit the exif. LensTagger Lightroom plugin I use it to identify all my old or non-Leica lenses in LR. But of course, it won't apply a profile...
