Problems with RAW2 Panasonic files after Lion upgrade.

I have been trying for over a month to figure out what I can do so that ALL my Panasonic Raw files are readable. They show up on my computer with a gray box around a blank image and EXEC written inside it ever since upgrading to Lion from Snow Leopard. These are files coming out of either my LX-5 or GF-1 cameras, that are named RAW2.

Any suggestions for a solution?

Hi-

My GF1 RAWs are .RW2 - are you sure yours are .RAW2?

Also, can you tell us how you're importing them, and what software you're using to view them? Is it just the Finder in which you're seeing these grey boxes with blank image and EXEC? Or are you viewing them in something like a Lightroom library or a browser such as Bridge?

If you're using Lightroom, have you tried importing them as .DNG?

Maybe you could post a screenshot - might ring some bells

Try this: click on one with command-i (or take 'info' from the finder menu) and in the box that comes up, be sure that 'open with' is 'preview' and click the box 'Change all'.

I am using OSX Lion and LR and PS. When I double click these images, yes RW2 as you point out, they cannot be read. I want PS or LR open open them in ACR, but I can now do each one individually but using Cmd I, and changing it to PS they will not open like my M9 files. Strange.

I keep these files on external HD's and it's when I ind one there I want to look at say in PS is where this problem begins.

I imported them into LR as DNG's a long time ago, but lost the original file numbers due to my stupidity of having LR change the original file names into a sequence number that LR created. So now I have to go back to my external drives to get original files numbers to show up in PS, which is what I mostly use.

A related question. In my PS CS5, it show AR as 6.0, but even 7.1 exists now. How do I get PS to use a newer version of ACR automatically upon double clicking an image?

I guess I am dangerous to my own image files' health.

I'm sorry, but I just can't follow what you're saying here - please clarify. Have you done as Pico suggested?

Have you tried pointing Bridge at the disc/ folder in question? Bridge is a browser and can "see" and preview all flavours of image file known to Adobe. From there, you should be able to open the files in ACR. If Bridge is not able to see your files, I fear they may have become corrupted

CS5 will not support ACR 7. You can get the latest available CS5-compatible iteration of ACR (6.7.0) from the Adobe downloads page
