lct Posted May 20, 2012 Share #3 Posted May 20, 2012 Best quality/price ratios IMHO: - Voigtlander Ultron 28/1.9 (second hand; the current 28/2 has focus shift issues) - Zeiss Biogon 28/2.8 - Leica Elmarit 28/2.8 aph - Voigtlander Skopar 35/2.5 (if you like sharp bokeh) - Zeiss Biogon 35/2.8 - Leica Summarit 35/2.5 - Voigtlander Heliar 75/2.5 - Leica Summarit 75/2.5 - Zeiss Tele-Tessar 85/4 - Leica Summarit 90/2.
wda Posted May 20, 2012 Share #4 Posted May 20, 2012 Welcome to the forum, Budda 1. I can recommend the 75mm Summarit very highly. With crop factor it gives equivalent to 100mm which is fine for portraiture and details. Minimum focusing distance is 3 feet or 0.9m.

Paulus Posted May 20, 2012 Share #6 Posted May 20, 2012 Elmarit-M 28/28mm is also great and used not to expensive.
doolittle Posted May 20, 2012 Share #7 Posted May 20, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Voigtlander 90mm Apo-Lanthar 3.5 can be picked up cheaply second hand. In my opinion an undervalued bargain and a fine performer. Screw mount, but bayonet adapters don't cost much.
ezc203 Posted May 21, 2012 Share #8 Posted May 21, 2012 Well with a 21mm already (which is about a 28mm on the M8) I'd say go for a 50mm equivalent and then a tele. The 40mm Nokton 1.4 is a spectacular lens. I "upgraded" my 40mm Summicron-C to the Nokton about a year ago and have not looked back. The only annoying thing is that the 40mm lens brings up the 50mm lines on the M8, but it's much closer to the 35mm lines. But this problem can be solved by modifying the lens. As for a tele... The 90mm Elmar is great. Small, compact and awesome. (Personally I use a 90mm pre-AA Summicron, but if I didn't have this lens I'd opt for the 90 Elmar)
Prosophos Posted May 21, 2012 Share #9 Posted May 21, 2012 Voigtlander Nokton 40/1.4: The Voigtländer Nokton 40mm f/1.4. Leica 75mm Summarit (f/2.5): The Leica 75mm Summarit f/2.5. If money wasn't an issue, I'd also pick the Leica 28mm Summicron... The M8/28'cron combination is an almost perfect match. Regards, Peter.
