pvak Posted May 5, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted May 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Newest leica Rumors claims that possibly an 18 meg Aps-C sensor X2 is coming with 35 mm Summilux f1.4 lens (53 mm equivalent) for about 3G. Now if it would only have a built in VF and aperture adjustment on the lens, then it would be real sweet!
Advertisement Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Hi pvak, Take a look here Leica rumors for X2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted May 6, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted May 6, 2012 It may be for 3G
jippiejee Posted May 6, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted May 6, 2012 Now if it would only have a built in VF and aperture adjustment on the lens, then it would be real sweet! Â Latest Leicarumor post suggests the EVF will be optional. So, no built-in viewfinder unfortunately, but the usual click-on accessory...
drbrog Posted May 7, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted May 7, 2012 It may be for 3G Â If the X2 sells for $3,000, it might help the resale value of the X1 down the road... Or if one is looking to get a preowned X1, do it sooner rather than later.
symmetron Posted May 7, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted May 7, 2012 I attended a camera store event where Leica reps were present and one indicated that something like an "X2" and a "new 50mm M-lens" would be announced on 10 May. No other details were provided.
rosuna Posted May 7, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted May 7, 2012 I attended a camera store event where Leica reps were present and one indicated that something like an "X2" and a "new 50mm M-lens" would be announced on 10 May. No other details were provided. Â It doesn't make any sense to accumulate too many new products at Photokina, because the star presentation would eclipse the other products. It happened with the X1 camera when the M9 was presented. It was a mistake. Â The X2 or the new lens may be presented now, if they are ready for production, and the same can be said of the M9 "monochromatic". Â The new EVIL camera, based on the M system or not, will be the bomb of trade show. Â This is a good occasion for getting attention on those "second level" products. dave.gt Posted May 7, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted May 7, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Either way, it will be interesting in only a few days! Â Love the X1 and can't wait to see how it evolves. The price will undoubtedly be higher so I will wait a couple of years and get the used one so, please, if anyone here buys one, take care of it and give me a call when the price drops low enough for me to buy it! pvak Posted May 9, 2012 Author Share #8 Â Posted May 9, 2012 Newest Leica Rumours now has the X2 back with the 24mm f2.8 Elmarit and not the 35mm Summilux as originally posted. Also an optional (1 MP ???) clip on EVF. And this will cost $1000 more than the X1? They've got to be kidding or theses rumours are just bogus! Anyway, we'll know in 24 hours! NZDavid Posted May 9, 2012 Share #9 Â Posted May 9, 2012 Newest rumor has an X2 with 18MP sensor, interchangeable lenses including 24 and 35, a macro, and a zoom with more on the way. Actually I just made that up, but it's about as credible as other rumors here! What is their source? It is now May 10 already this side of the planet so it's just hours until we know for sure... wda Posted May 10, 2012 Share #10 Â Posted May 10, 2012 It is just an idle game, David. I am generally too busy to play!
nickma Posted May 10, 2012 Share #11 Â Posted May 10, 2012 Latest 'news' pre release: Â the new Leica X2 will probably have the same 28mm Elmarit lens as in the X1. The optional X2 electronic viewfinder will be 1MP.
lct Posted May 10, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted May 10, 2012 Same 24 or 28?
nickma Posted May 10, 2012 Share #13 Â Posted May 10, 2012 Good question! So LeicaRumour either got the focal length of the X1 wrong, which isn;t very impressive, or it's a different lens to the X1's 24mm.
Moritz Posted May 10, 2012 Share #14  Posted May 10, 2012 The 36mm optical viewfinder of the X1 is supposed to fit in X2. So they might change the optics from an Elmarit to a Summilux lens.  Best Regards  Moritz
shard Posted May 10, 2012 Share #15 Â Posted May 10, 2012 More megapixels, optional EVF, same lens as the X1...
nickma Posted May 10, 2012 Share #16 Â Posted May 10, 2012 Confirmed X2: Â Same Elmarit 24mm f2.8 lens as X1, same shape, same controls, same pop up flash, optional EVF, new 16.1 MP sensor.
nickma Posted May 10, 2012 Share #17 Â Posted May 10, 2012 so given the spec we now know, is it going to be worth upgrading? Â I'd say definitely not for existing X1 users unless low light focus is lightening fast...and EVF includes manual peak focusing....and pricing is the same as X1.
