BshopB Posted May 5, 2012 Share #1 Posted May 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) A quick question....I'm new to the LFI iPad app and noticed that there was the ability to view a "current" issue through the app. The app downloaded the September 2010 issue and it makes reference to other issues through the information link but I don't see any way to access them. I searched the forums here but see nothing since early 2011. Does anyone know whether or not recent and new issues will be available via the app? Thanks! StephenPatterson Posted May 6, 2012 Share #3 Posted May 6, 2012 For those of us who live in the more remote parts of the globe it would be wonderful to read LFI on the iPad, but like you I have only been able to access the one issue from 2010. Hopefully Leica will work on this...
kdriceman Posted May 6, 2012 Share #4 Posted May 6, 2012 It looks to me like they developed the app, and never updated or maintained it.

andybarton Posted May 6, 2012 Share #6 Posted May 6, 2012 Don't forget that LFI isn't a Leica publication. It's an independent. It would be good if they could publish the magazine via the App. Subscribers could get it all, non-subscribers could just get a small taster.

yanidel Posted May 6, 2012 Share #8 Posted May 6, 2012 I don't subsribe to LFI, but I would if the issues were available on IPAD (obviously, at a discounted price).
Ellie Posted May 6, 2012 Share #9 Posted May 6, 2012 I think LFI has problems right now, perhaps because of a larger number of subscribers in the last years? I bought and received a book from them two months ago but they forgot to charge the card. I never got the latest LFI 3/2012 either
k-hawinkler Posted May 6, 2012 Share #10 Posted May 6, 2012 I don't need more paper but would love to subscribe just to the LFI iPad issues.
BshopB Posted May 7, 2012 Author Share #11 Posted May 7, 2012 Thanks all for the responses and information. Good to hear I am not missing something but it seems that the folks at LFI are by not making the magazine available through the app they have created. I just subscribed but would have preferred an electronic subscription. Thanks again!

mjh Posted May 21, 2012 Share #13 Posted May 21, 2012 I’ve just learned that a new version of the iPad app is in the works, to be released within the next few weeks. That version is supposed to support in-app purchases of individual issues of LFI – for real this time.

rosuna Posted May 21, 2012 Share #17 Posted May 21, 2012 Me too. I'd love to be able to get LFI on my iPad. S magazine is nice but I don't have one. Gordon I agree. The purchase would be much easier... and cheaper. My problem with LFI issues is not price though, the problem is the space. I don't want more paper in my home. I would like to store and preserve the issues in electronic form.

You have a very nice way of making complicated technical matters understandable. I can't wait til the content is available on my iPad. Guest WPalank Posted September 22, 2012 Share #20 Posted September 22, 2012 Just an update. For the last month or so one can download specific LFI issues through the App and print subscribers get a discount. only problem is that you need the subscription number which in the US anyway is on the plastic cover that is ripped off and thrown in the trash bin. You can access it through the main LFI site and I am proud to say that they are using my image "Kara Boy" as the gateway: Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Also, once you open the App on the iPad, Leica bought several images from myself, JPlomley and others that will randomly appear as the App loads:
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
