magosak Posted May 5, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted May 5, 2012 I see similar ads on Montreal Craigslist a lot for various Leica equipment. You will most likely get a reply like this: Â "I am in xxxxxx,Inglewood Dr, with some business I want to close this deal through PayPal because is easy and safe for both of us to use. Let me know if you're ok with this service because i will also pay the shipping." Â walk away...
baci Posted May 5, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted May 5, 2012 Did a Google search on the phrase, "The Leica strap is missing the connectors" from the Craigslist ad. It's an unusual expression and pops up in other ads posted on eBay and another site. Seems to be pretty much a word for word copy. Â Deal of the century indeed....! andybarton Posted May 5, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted May 5, 2012 Craigslist must be the biggest "fence" in the world. Â Does it have any of the "safeguards" that eBay does? Is there any way of reporting such blatantly obvious scam offers?
CalArts 99 Posted May 5, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted May 5, 2012 I like that it comes with "a technical boob."
jaques Posted May 5, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted May 5, 2012 In terms of the scale- I am going to guess ebay is still the largest fence- plenty of scams on ebay every second. Â both platforms would be very hard to ever adequately police. best protection: brains.
ravinj Posted May 5, 2012 Author Share #7 Â Posted May 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Craigslist must be the biggest "fence" in the world. Â Does it have any of the "safeguards" that eBay does? Is there any way of reporting such blatantly obvious scam offers? Â The post can be flagged and if enough folks flag it, it is automatically deleted. Â The ad even shows a partial picture of B&H receipt. What is not to like? Â I just hope that no one falls for it. Â Or, maybe it is real and the owner has fallen upon hard times and needs cash ASAP!

Revdockj Posted May 5, 2012 Share #10 Â Posted May 5, 2012 Sorry: "less than 2600" or "3200"?
jdlaing Posted May 5, 2012 Share #11 Â Posted May 5, 2012 How can a camera be "Mint" with 2,400 shots through it? Â Clean. No scratches, dents, marks, wear. Like it came out of the box. If the user mounted only one lens the mount would be like new as well. Â It would be "as new" or "pristine" if there were less than 500 shutter actuations with the same body condition. ravinj Posted May 7, 2012 Author Share #12  Posted May 7, 2012 Just for my curiosity, I responded to the ad and here is the response. I have asked for further details. A quick Google search on the sender's email shows scammer alert. The ad seems to have been flagged and taken down already, so all of this is just for fun while we await May 10th.  Re: Leica M9 Sunday, May 6, 2012 10:51 PM From: "Mike Diamis" <mikediamisjei1@gmail.com>  Hello  The product is available and it is in perfect condition working great.First of all I can't make this deal face to face because I am in United Kingdom with my job.
