matts Posted April 20, 2012 Share #1  Posted April 20, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an M9 with the latest 1.716 firmware and I'm finding that in my first few dozen shots (this camera is second hand), I've noticed that I too have gotten the bottom/top 1/3 issue:  Pretty much identical to: Significant M9 Problem. - Photo.net Leica and Rangefinders Forum  I also got a couple unreadable files. Not 0mb but just listed as problematic by Camera RAW.  I've been using a brand new Transcend Class 10 32 GB card, but I just ordered two Sandisk Ultras at 16gb in case.  Is the issue still caused by chimping when the card is writing?  Ideas? Advertisement Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Hi matts, Take a look here One third issue. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Hosermage Posted April 20, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted April 20, 2012 how do you transfer the files? I've read that it's not reliable to use USB cable connected to the camera, safer to take out the card and use a card reader.
jaapv Posted April 20, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted April 20, 2012 Well, you will have to provide some more information rather than point to a rather nastily trolled thread on Pnet (thanks for reminding me why I never go there...:roll eyes:) to get a sensible answer. Post a problem image. Does it show up on the camera LCD? Did you try another SD card?Did you shoot DNG, JPG or both? Does it show up on both files? etc.. haroldp Posted April 20, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted April 20, 2012 I have had trouble with Transcend class 10 on my M9, but none with the Transcend class cards which are just as fast (on the M9).
250swb Posted April 20, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted April 20, 2012 Â Ideas? Â It is the card, try another, and do what David suggested, use a card reader to transfer images to your PC. Â Steve
matts Posted April 20, 2012 Author Share #6 Â Posted April 20, 2012 I always use an external reader. Â On the camera, I remember seeing one problem image which was maybe 1/5 band of correct image and the rest below was just colourful noise. I don't recall noticing that many issues on camera. Â I will definitely thoroughly format my card again, though I have read that this issue may occur when one plays through while the camera is writing from the buffer. Â Other things to note: I shoot uncompressed RAW and try not to use continuous (though I select it accidentally from time to time nor do I bracket. matts Posted April 20, 2012 Author Share #8  Posted April 20, 2012 Looks like this: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/121053-corrups-files-anyone-seen.html  Thanks! Precisely my issue, except this is with firmware 1.716 and there seems to be little posted on issues after that November update.  Has there ever been a solution or do you just have to hope it doesn't happen on a critical image? Are there at least precautions one needs to take?  I also was using Lightroom 4, so it isn't a CaptureOne issue.  Thanks
01af Posted April 20, 2012 Share #9 Â Posted April 20, 2012 I have an M9 with the latest 1.716 firmware ... What firmware version do you have? Â Â I've been using a brand new Transcend Class 10 32 GB card, but I just ordered two Sandisk Ultras at 16 GB in case. I would try a different card, and I would stay away from SanDisk cards, particularly from the Ultra which is known to cause problems frequently. Try Pretec or Panasonic. The newest firmware is available. Please have a look to our homepage "downloads". Thanks.  Leica Camera AG - Downloads   Kind regards  Customer Service"  As I have not experienced the problem since changing firmware I thought the problem was gone. But now I don't know. It will probably show up again when you are shooting the picture of a your lifetime
