k-hawinkler Posted April 17, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted April 17, 2012 WOW! Amazing shot, selective focus, incredible detail, marvelous composition! How far away was the desert cottontail? Thanks.
Bill Allsopp Posted April 17, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted April 17, 2012 This is a stunning photo which many of the new breed of togs would be unable to achieve with manual focus.

stuny Posted April 17, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted April 17, 2012 Doug - Â Fabulous, even if it doesn't have feathers. Â I'll correct the typo in the title.
wildlightphoto Posted April 17, 2012 Author Share #7 Â Posted April 17, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks all for your comments (and thanks to Stuart for correcting the typo). This rabbit was about 20' away. Since the Novoflex has no distance scale I can only guess the distance. Â I'm becoming a big fan of the Novoflex/Telyt combination. The Novoflex's tripod mount is well-placed for good balance on my monopod, the squeeze-grip focussing is quick and soon becomes intuitive, and the built-in variable extension tube is very very handy... and then there's the 560mm f/6.8 Telyt

I am really confused here.. then there's the 560mm f/6.8 Telyt.... so you ARE using the 560mm Telyt on the " Novaflex grip..so you've made a hybrid system?.. The 560 mm is not a Novaflex Telyt..its the regular 560mm Telyt lens:confused::confused:

Now what about the focusing system, does Novaflex help with its innovation ?? Looks like the pistol has a trigger that acts as part of the focus system.  Thanks again  Cheers, JRM

Looks like the pistol has a trigger that acts as part of the focus system.  The Novoflex focussing grip has a couple of advantages and disadvantages:  Advantages:  I can use more easily it when I'm contorted on the wrong side of my truck, when sprawled out on the ground, or in an otherwise awkward position.  When using it on a tripod my focussing hand is behind the tripod mount instead of far ahead of it. This is most important when working from inside a blind: I often need to turn the lens to one side or another and in order to do so the tripod needs to be close to the opening in the blind. With the Leica-mount lens my hand would be outside the blind. With the Novoflex my hand is inside, out of sight.  for later model Novoflex grips (PIGRIFF-C or -D) the tripod mount is closer to the camera+lens center of gravity.  The Novoflex doesn't bind of get sticky when the lubricant dries out.  The Novoflex has a forward grip with a shutter release, which can be used with either a mechanical cable or an electric cable. I'm working on rigging up an electric cable to connect to the DMR.   Disadvantages:  It's heavier than the Leica-mount lens  The grip's focussing range is more limited (compensated by the built-in extension tube)  Parts & service might be difficult to come by
