gbealnz Posted April 15, 2012 Share #1 Posted April 15, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) OK, have a nice Elmarit 21/2.8, not the asph but the model before (I think). The hood when mounted isn't quite "square", it appears as if the hood is crooked but what it is is the front section of the lens has "turned" slightly, making the pins that attach the hood not quite in the correct place. The little white dot that signifies the aperture position is also canted in a similar fashion. Is this an easy (DIY) fix or not. Coincidently, my Elmarit 28/2.8 (v3 E49) is the same, but not quite as bad. Of course I can live with both as they are, but if the fix isn't too horrendous I'd like to rectify this. I recalled a similar post ages ago, I dug around, used the search, to no avail. Gary
Advertisement Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Hi gbealnz, Take a look here Hood not quite "square" on Elmarit 21. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaques Posted April 16, 2012 Share #2 Posted April 16, 2012 I recently got an elmarit 28- and my hood mounted way off- maybe by 25 degrees. I posted a thread on here - got some answers- and it seems that somehow the lens has shifted in the mount. Apparently on the 28 it is an easy fix- as a single retaining ring at the rear is all that holds the lens head in position. I am assuming if that ring is loosened- I will be able to correctly re-position the head and re-tighten the ring. However I have not had a chance to test the theory yet. The lens works perfectly as is- however I can't use the hood as it vignettes badly (or rather cuts into the image)
gbealnz Posted April 16, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted April 16, 2012 Thank you Jaques. Maybe it was your post I saw but then could not find when I looked recently. If you do establish the ring or means of sorting this, I would be appreciative. Right now, I simply loosen the hood slightly, so it sits square, not ideal, but it works.
