Advertisement Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Hi stevelap, Take a look here Body WLTM R Lens for friendship, possibly more. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stevelap Posted April 17, 2012 Author Share #2 Posted April 17, 2012 OK, my feeble attempt at a humorous thread title fell on stony ground:) So let me try a more conventional approach. I'm considering a short tele/portrait prime R lens for use, Leitax adapted, on a NikonD800/E. The Summilux-R f1.4/80mm or APO-Summicron-R ASPH f2.0/90mm spring to mind. Comments from anyone with experience of using either lens (or an alternative), particularly if adapted for use on Nikon digital bodies, would be welcome. Many thanks
andybarton Posted April 17, 2012 Share #3 Posted April 17, 2012 Either will suit you very well, but the 80 f1.4 is one of the "classic" Leica lenses. Look at what Ben (roguewave) does with his on the DMR. That would be my choice - if I could find and afford one.
andyedward Posted April 17, 2012 Share #4 Posted April 17, 2012 I have produced some good portraits with an elmarit-r 100/2,8 on my d3x. It's a macro lens, so you can get closer than with some lenses whose minimum focussing distance limits them to "head and shoulders" shots. The elmarit has excellent image quality, including high contrast at max aperture. Erwin Puts wrote a comparison of R lenses in the 80-100mm range, which is freely available at the R G Lewis website. NikonCafe is a good place to look for R lens users, pics, and advice. p.s. I do appreciate your GSOH !!
