wda Posted April 13, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted April 13, 2012 Well he has certainly changed his mind since I questioned him on whether he would consider an e-book version of his famous work. Many will welcome his decision, though I have yet to find a good enough reason to buy an e-book reading device.
Jeff S Posted April 13, 2012 Author Share #5 Â Posted April 13, 2012 Well he has certainly changed his mind since I questioned him on whether he would consider an e-book version of his famous work. UliWer Posted April 13, 2012 Share #6  Posted April 13, 2012 Well, the blog says the content is new. Jeff  I hope so!  Looking at the table of content, it seems as if pre-M Leicas are given more space than in the Compendium. Even if this is not so, it would be a big advance if so many faults about the screw-mount times were just left out.
vintola Posted April 13, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted April 13, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Really good news. I am a fan of electronic books. Mr. Puts promised some time ago that there will be the electronic version of his excellent book. And so will it be. I bought several copies (four) of his excellent book in printed version ( Two of the first version and two of the later version). One for my son and I still have the other ones. Â I hope this new version will be more complete about the S2 and its lenses. I have read several times his blog about this S2-camera, but it might be nice to add more about this camera and S-Summarits. Â As You guessed, I am contemplated to buy this camera (or maybe S3, if it will be released in the Photokina this year)
farnz Posted April 14, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted April 14, 2012 E. Puts writes: "The ebook has no DMR, so any buyer can use it on all electronic gadgets and computers in both formats." In light of the omission from the recently released 8th edition Leica Pocket Book this is an amusing Freudian slip for "DRM". Â Thanks for posting the link, Jeff. Â Pete. IWC Doppel Posted April 15, 2012 Share #10 Â Posted April 15, 2012 Interesting it will be published on the 15th May, perhaps a review of something new announced on the 10th ? Or coincidence.....?
rosuna Posted April 15, 2012 Share #11 Â Posted April 15, 2012 Interesting it will be published on the 15th May, perhaps a review of something new announced on the 10th ? Or coincidence.....? Â I think it is not coincidence.
luigi bertolotti Posted April 17, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted April 17, 2012 I think it is not coincidence. Â Me too... ... the content he has published in his blog can lack a pair of last-minute chapters... and the printed version "around Photokina" seems another "coincidence"
rramesh Posted April 17, 2012 Share #13 Â Posted April 17, 2012 It would be great if it were a file with inserts. Each insert could be charged a nominal sum. Â In fact the Leica Forum could also consider this as an avenue for forumers to publish articles.
LucisPictor Posted April 17, 2012 Share #14 Â Posted April 17, 2012 ... though I have yet to find a good enough reason to buy an e-book reading device. Â I neither own one. But there are plenty of applications for PC and Android phones.

Torsten_M Posted April 18, 2012 Share #16 Â Posted April 18, 2012 There are thousands of arguments for an ebook reader. I have 246 arguments on my kindle. There are many books for free (legaly) you can put on your reader. And I only like to read books on paper or E Ink. A Mac or Ipad is sometimes ok for fast reading but I vastly prefer book or Ebook. Â On the opposite the large Puts Compendium is too large for an ebook because 99% of the ebooks are 5 or 6 inch, so it would look awfull.
veraikon Posted April 18, 2012 Share #17 Â Posted April 18, 2012 Interesting it will be published on the 15th May, perhaps a review of something new announced on the 10th ? Or coincidence.....?I think there is no coincidence . He always includes "new" products. But the main non coincidence is with the 8th edition of the Leica pocket book
StephenPatterson Posted May 23, 2012 Share #18 Â Posted May 23, 2012 Just a note that Erwin Puts' new book new book, "Leica-Chronicle" is now available for purchase and download at his website. The whole process is exceedingly simple, with payment via paypal then an instant download. Even here in China the entire process took less than 10 minutes. Â I'm just getting started on the book, but it's very comprehensive. Viewing at what I would consider an average font size on the iPad the book is 699 pages, with many photos and diagrams. I checked from Mr. Puts' pages and there was only mentioned that it can be bought at the end of May, but no link to buy it now. - vintola - Edit: Or is it this pocketbook mentioned there?
