Alexander Charles Posted April 24, 2012 Share #4 Posted April 24, 2012 Would you happen to know, which Bauhaus building this is? Thanks, Alex
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted April 24, 2012 Share #5 Posted April 24, 2012 It appears "classic", but those Bauhaus-people disliked tiled roofs. So I suppose, it might be something close to Bauhaus but not Bauhaus as such ... Best GEORG
pop Posted April 24, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted April 24, 2012 Thank you all for looking, your comments and your interest. Georg is quite right. This is the central building of the Siedlungsgenossenschaft Freidorf in Muttenz, near Basel, in Switzerland, built in 1924. It was designed by Hannes Meyer of Basel who joined the Baushaus movement in 1927 and was to become the second director of the Bauhaus in 1928. Since we - the inhabitants of the project - are inordinately proud of our Freidorf, I took the liberty and boasted a bit about the building being Bauhaus. However, the Freidorf project certainly was material to his becoming Master in the Bauhaus movement.
