Advertisement Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Hi chevy, Take a look here Voightlander 15-35 mm. Zoomfinder. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
kcnarf Posted April 12, 2012 Share #2 Posted April 12, 2012 yeah, great! I use it with my Tri-Elmar Wate. I am currently doing a lot of extremely close-up f/5.6-f/8 shooting from within or on the immediate periphery of crowds of socio-political protesters, mostly the Occupy Chicago movement and various adjunct groups. I focus first in the M9's viewfinder, rapidly frame in the Voigtlander universal viewfinder, and the then move the camera to an equivalent low- or high-angle position and shoot while looking directly across open space at my most immediate subject. That works fine: some of the best, most interesting shots I have ever taken. The Leica Universal Viewfinder costs twice as much and is easily twice as large. It has a level indicator and some kind of correcting device for parallax, but I get along just fine without that.
mr_big Posted April 12, 2012 Share #3 Posted April 12, 2012 I've had mine for about 8 months and use it with my WATE. I like it WAY better than the over-engineered Frankenfinder. It's smaller, brighter and cheaper and more flexible. It's what Leica should've delivered.
lars_bergquist Posted April 12, 2012 Share #4 Posted April 12, 2012 I have not seen it. What about distortion? Clear image delimitation? The old man from the Kodachrome Age
kcnarf Posted April 12, 2012 Share #5 Posted April 12, 2012 No disturbing distortion beyond essentially the degree of distortion that comes from the WATE's 16mm, 18mm, or 21mm. focal length and will be largely what you will expect to see in your photo. And yes there is clear image delimitation, certainly clear enough. The focal length is adjusted with an easy twist. The detent mechanism is precise and not prone to slippage. The focal lengths are marked in 3 separate side-by-side, clearly marked locations: full frame, 1.3 crop, and 1.5 crop. The Voigtlander Zoomfinder is also durable solid metal and optical glass. Heavy rain should pose no great problem. I know this from recently having forgotten to lock the Zoomfinder onto my M9, having it therefore drop into a toilet bowl, and subsequently rinsing it off under a faucet. Water entered inside the device, spotting and fogging it up for several hours. But the view gradually returned to its original clarity. I should now try to wipe clean the inside of the viewing tube and the inner sides of each of the 2 pieces of glass. I think that may be possible because there are 3 tiny Phillips screws at the back of the device.

roydonian Posted April 12, 2012 Share #7 Posted April 12, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) It is well built and displays a large and bright image. But I wear eyeglasses with strong lenses, and cannot quite see the entire field simultaneously. So in that respect only, it has been a disappointment. Double Negative Posted April 12, 2012 Share #8 Posted April 12, 2012 ...I know this from recently having forgotten to lock the Zoomfinder onto my M9, having it therefore drop into a toilet bowl, and subsequently rinsing it off under a faucet... *mental note* Do not buy a used Zoomfinder from eBay.
