sanyasi Posted April 10, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted April 10, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been looking at the Lee Filter system. I can't figure this company out. Many of the products it produces are listed on various web sites as backordered. The backorder period is often lengthy. I can understand any given item being backordered, but the level of backordered products seems a bit odd. Â Does anyone know what is going on with this company? Is it worth waiting, or is it best to move on to another producer of filters? Any recommendations for a comparable system? Â Thanks
Advertisement Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Hi sanyasi, Take a look here Lee Filters. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted April 10, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted April 10, 2012 I have some that I use with my Hasselblad, and they have been back-ordered for years. They are hand made, IIRC, and the ND grad filters are always in short supply. Â I don't know what the situation is like in the US, but I got mine from a Hasselblad dealer in London. I was also recommended to try Morco Photographic, in Nottinghamshire.
earleygallery Posted April 10, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted April 10, 2012 Have you considered Cokin filters?
OwinThomas Posted April 10, 2012 Share #4  Posted April 10, 2012 Like Leica, Lee Filters have had a massive increase in orders over the last few years. Good for Lee, but frustrating for potential customers.  Also, like Leica, Lee filters are hand made. Are they worth waiting for? That's a question only you can answer. If you want a slot in filter system, I would say they're the best, but if you want a screw in then try other manufacturers, B+W for instance.  Here's a link to a that should give you an idea of how labourous the process is. FYI if you do get some filters get a filter pouch as well, don't keep the filters in the microfiber cloth they're shipped in for long periods of time. The coatings react sometimes causing streaking on the filters.  I got mine, four or five years back from Morco Photographic, very good service. cocker Posted April 10, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted April 10, 2012 Like Andy and Owin I bought mine a few years ago (for use with my large-format camera). I got them from Robert White and didn't have to wait at all as far as I can remember. I don't know where you are but they might be worth a try. Service form them has always been excellent in my experience. Â Lee Filters - Shop by Brand | Robert White Photographic Ltd
