e1k3 Posted April 10, 2012 Share #4 Posted April 10, 2012 I like this picture for its composition and perfect contrast. The colors seem to be a little bit desaturated though.
marc_dufour Posted April 11, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted April 11, 2012 Paul, Thank you so much. The pictorial appearance isn't on purpose, but I can't denied it It's what may happen, when subjects are with so much texture... Suuumm55, Don't worry ! There isn't an only way to take a picture. And it's fun to play with new things, time to time! Thanks for looking and comment. e1K3, There where so many and dense details that I tried to lower the intensity of the picture. Maybe I desatured too much! Thanks for looking and kind comment.
hamey Posted April 11, 2012 Share #6 Posted April 11, 2012 Lovely shot marc. But how did you couple up your 21-35 to the Canon 5D -2, did you make any modification to your equipment. Ken.
marc_dufour Posted April 11, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted April 11, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ken, I used a Leitax adapter. The CameraQuest also works fine. Because of the mirror, it's not possible to open widely until 21, but yes until 21,5, more or less, as in this picture. Some photographers modify the mirror, but I'm not so daring... Thanks for looking and comment.

marc_dufour Posted April 11, 2012 Author Share #9 Posted April 11, 2012 Thank you so much, Ali. Even better would be a large window with this view just in front But it's OK to have seen and enjoyed it, keeping a picture of the moment.
Suuumm55 Posted April 11, 2012 Share #10 Posted April 11, 2012 There isn't an only way to take a picture. marc_dufour Posted April 11, 2012 Author Share #11 Posted April 11, 2012 that´s right and that´s good, but i think a bit to remain true to oneself Ingrid, I remain true to myself in some aspects of my life but, talking about photography (and although I generally follow a same kind of approach) I haven't any preconception. I don't know what I shall find each time I come out. Nor the scape will be the same, nor the weather, nor my feelings. This one is certainly not the picture of mines I more identify with, but all pictures we take are no more than an intent. The best has to come. leicamann Posted April 12, 2012 Share #13 Posted April 12, 2012 Marc its a fine image, I just think you used too much USM, if you are using Camera RAW, its important to be careful "how" you open the image without ruining it Some images are best left "as is" to avoid Photoshoposis.. Une image excessivement manipulée est une image ruinée
marc_dufour Posted April 12, 2012 Author Share #14 Posted April 12, 2012 Ingrid, John, I've to admit I'm just beginning with raw process and treatment, and probably overdoing with it, as usual with every new tool I try. It's part of the learning process for an apprendice as I am. And it's also the most interesting part of it, isn't it? Curiously, this picture has caused the most opposing opinions, in this and other forum. I'm very grateful with all your comments; I'm sure they will be useful. Iduna Posted April 12, 2012 Share #15 Posted April 12, 2012 Marc, this is an interesting debate going on here, Raw here, Photoshop there and so on. The result is a matter of taste, but the fine details work very well and its subtle colors give the picture its own character. One can procuce of course a different look but like this as such it is a fine picture.
marc_dufour Posted April 13, 2012 Author Share #16 Posted April 13, 2012 Iduna, Some years ago I already got a similar result, opening files from Digilux 3. I liked it, and remembered the exchange between painting and photography since the first days, until this moment. I enjoy as seing some C.D. Freidrich paintings as some A. Adams photos. Thank you so much for your kind comment and appreciation.
