It's rock-steady from 8.5" to 64" {plus the size of your tripod head. Mine often supports a diminutive Model C atop a FIAKU. You may need a strong assistant and a pack mule as accessories. In this image it is supporting a horizon 'sky' camera, a super wide angle 8x10" in the service position. The camera was a Lockheed creation which I modified the shutter mechanism for civilian use.
