Advertisement Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Hi JHAG, Take a look here Fiancee (encore). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Timmyjoe Posted April 5, 2012 Share #2 Posted April 5, 2012 Two charming pictures of a beautiful little 7 year old girl. But I too find the title "Fiancee" to be a bit disturbing. As a father of an 8 and 9 year old, I understand that she is currently the "love of his life" for your son, but here in the States, where we have full scale, massively over-sexualized, beauty contests for girls this age, I find the whole idea of little kids being "adultized" to be quite upsetting. Again, nice pictures though.

JHAG Posted April 5, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted April 5, 2012 Well, guys, in Europe, we're jokers, and we love Billy Wilder, and even in the best families we like to joke about this or that little girl being the future fiancee of this or that little boy. My grandfather and grandmother used to joke with me when I was 7, my parents used to do the same, and we do the same now. To me, the mere fact I have to explain this and clarify means that the fear of perverted minds (which do exist and which do deserve the galley or the gallows) subtly pervaded and instillated an absence of distinction and nuance between a charming title for a lightly poetic image and the 7-th Circle of Dante's Inferno, if you see what I mean. Quote "– But I'm a man ! – Nobody's perfect" Unquote Osgood and Geraldine, final dialogue, Some like it hot, Billy Wilder, 1959 PS And she is, yes, the little fiancee of my youngest son (both 7). http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/people/231073-lover-girl.html
Timmyjoe Posted April 5, 2012 Share #5 Posted April 5, 2012 I certainly understand your European sensibility on this. But come on over to the perverted side of the pond and see what passes for adult/parental entertainment here in the States. You must have heard about JonBenét Ramsey, well she was just the tip of the twisted iceberg.

You must have heard about JonBenét Ramsey, well she was just the tip of the twisted iceberg. Tim, I'm aware of this and it's apalling, but admittedly we're very far of anything of the sort with our little "fiancee" here…

That's how my son calls her. But that would undoubtedly sparkle another "War of the roses"…

JHAG Posted April 13, 2012 Author Share #15 Posted April 13, 2012 I agree. It is too bad that the title takes some of that away. Ece Thx for your kind word. As for the title, again, it's my son (7) who deemed this lovely girl (7) his amoureuse and fiancee. And this is reciprocated. So the title is quite close to a children's reality.
