spylaw4 Posted April 2, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted April 2, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Now that 4.1 seems to have successfully got round the "Edit in" issue, I need to get rid of the temporary installation of Photoshop Elements 10. Â However the Adobe Uninstaller keeps asking me to close "ShellExtLoader". I have no idea what this is or where it is or what it does so that I can close it. Â Would someone be kind enough to point me in the right direction? Many thanks.
Advertisement Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Hi spylaw4, Take a look here A Small Problem - LR4.1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
greyelm Posted April 2, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted April 2, 2012 You don't say which operating system you are using so I will make a couple of basic suggestions that may work. Firstly reboot the computer and try uninstalling again, if you still get the same message you will need to restart in safe mode and try again. If you are still getting the message you will need to contact Adobe. Sorry I can't be more specific.
spylaw4 Posted April 2, 2012 Author Share #3 Â Posted April 2, 2012 I should have said Mac OS 10.7.
andybarton Posted April 2, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted April 2, 2012 Just drag the PSE application folder from the Applications folder and empty the Trash. Anything that's in the Library folder and sub-folders can stay there and will do no harm.
stunsworth Posted April 2, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted April 2, 2012 There's a free app in the Mac app store that will delete all of the associated gubbins such as library contents and caches when you want to delete a program. From memory it's called CleanApp, and the last time I looked it was near the top of the chart of free applications
wda Posted April 2, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted April 2, 2012 Brian, I presume you have searched for the required file: "ShellExtLoader".?; In Windows that is easy to do; I assume a Mac system has a similar provision.
greyelm Posted April 2, 2012 Share #7  Posted April 2, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I found this on the web:  in Finder, choose "Go" from the menubar and then select "Utilities"  A new Finder window should open.  Locate and run Activity Monitor  This will provide a listing of all running processes on your Mac.  Once you find ShellExtLoader, select it and choose "Quit Process" from the toolbar.  Now see if your Adobe uninstall will complete,
spylaw4 Posted April 2, 2012 Author Share #8 Â Posted April 2, 2012 Thanks you all for the suggestions! Â In fact greyelm's #7 was the key - worked perfectly! Many thanks. Â @Steve -I have a similar app to CleanApp, which refused to do the job.
