Olsen Posted April 2, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted April 2, 2012 Look closely at the sky and you can see two prominent stars. One of then is Saturn, which is the largest one. The other is Jupiter. I have a pair of Carl Zeiss 20 x 60 with damper. I can actually see the rings of Saturn and 4 - 5 of Jupiter's moons on bright nights like this with these binochulars. Try it yourself with the 'strongest' binoculars you have. .I guess this picture is taken facing the sunset (west) which is where these 'stars' are seen, these days. jaapv Posted April 2, 2012 Author Share #6 Â Posted April 2, 2012 Indeed it was, that is where the gradient in the sky comes from. Regarding snow - I'm sure you have it in Norway, but the Dolomites are my favorite mountains, I would argue the most beautiful ones in the world... (Is that all of snow they can offer you in the alps, Jaap, you better come to Norway!)[/quote]Â Apart snow... I did saw (many years ago, when used to do serious climbing.. ) the Trollveggen in Romsdal... and not far from Jaap's picture, there is the South face of Marmolada, which is not so smaller... (and a much better rock to be climbed)
Olsen Posted April 2, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted April 2, 2012 Luigi, Â In the area you mentioned is a snow storm raging right now. Authorities here have issued an avalanche warning... - Right up front of the Easter Holiday which is the most popular skiing time here in Norway.
