HpS Posted March 30, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 30, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) My D-Lux3 hangs after a few photos when shooting or deleting, and the power button does not shut it off. Once the battery is removed and re-inserted it can then be switched on again but each time after a few pics it hangs. Anyone experienced this ever and know of a solution please? jankap Posted March 30, 2012 Share #2 Posted March 30, 2012 Do you use a new type of memory card? Is the last picture - the one at time of the hangup - stored on the card? Jan
HpS Posted March 30, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted March 30, 2012 No I do not use a new type of memory card. And yes, the last picture is stored.
jankap Posted March 30, 2012 Share #4 Posted March 30, 2012 Somebody an idea? It could be a firmware problem. A try would be loading the firmware new. Otherwise I would say a hardware problem. Meaning send to Leica. Jan
Despe Posted April 1, 2012 Share #5 Posted April 1, 2012 Try loading the card on a PC card reader and see if it behaves ok or need to be repaired by Windows. Just to ensure the card is ok before sending the camera back... Cheers, Despe
HpS Posted April 1, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted April 1, 2012 Thanks Despe. Actually that reminds me I had recently while downloading images to my computer, resized and saved an image by opening it from the camera card file instead of the saved files on the computer. Do you think by working on the camera file I might have corrupted the card? I had used Photoshop to do that.
jankap Posted April 1, 2012 Share #7 Posted April 1, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Somewhere in the forum a member has listed do's and don't's in relation to picture cards. - Don't delete pictures on the card using your camera. And so on According to this I have done risky things with my Dlux-4 and DP1s without a problem. Perhaps I only was lucky till now. Jan
HpS Posted April 2, 2012 Author Share #8 Posted April 2, 2012 Thanks Jan. Are you saying my resizing the camera card file might have caused the problem. Perhaps I should use a new card and confirm this. Actually I am always deleting pictures on my card using the camera. Nothing untoward has happened before this. I have had my D Lux3 since 2009. HpS Posted April 24, 2012 Author Share #9 Posted April 24, 2012 Just to update that I did finally get a new card and am using it on the camera and at least so far, the camera seems to behave normally and is not hanging after a few shots/deletions. Thanks to all those who are responding.
Blindjock Posted April 24, 2012 Share #10 Posted April 24, 2012 Try formatting the old card using the camera (will wipe all the photos). After that, only edit the card using the camera. Don't use the computer to edit or delete any images on the card.
