mdt2 Posted March 29, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well I just got off the phone with Adorama after ordering my M9P in silver to go with my silver 50 2.0 Summicron. Personal taste, I just like the look of this combo, the "M9P Silver-Deuce" as I refer to it. Anyway my goal is to get back to the basics of what started my career as a professional photographer which spanned over 30 years before changing careers. (Yes I made very good money and supported my family as a pro) Lately I have felt too caught up in the lust of camera bodies, lenses and so on. Gone are the days of my Nikon D700, 14-24, 24-70, 70-200 and 300. With this move towards simplicity, hello 50mmm lets make some music......... Thanks for reading and happy shooting...... digitalpowershot Posted March 30, 2012 Share #8 Posted March 30, 2012 Congratulation! Didn't want to wait until 10th of May or even Photokina 2012/2014/..?
RockyIII Posted March 31, 2012 Share #9 Posted March 31, 2012 Congratulations, Mike! I went back and forth between Nikon and Leica, but finally decided to stick with Leica. I am not doing any macro or sports, so the Leica gear does everything I need. Holding a Leica body, and even moreso a Leica lens, in my hands feels so much better than a hulking big, heavy camera and lens. You might want to change your profile from "on the verge" to "took the leap." Rocky
PaulN Posted March 31, 2012 Share #10 Posted March 31, 2012 Well I just got off the phone with Adorama after ordering my M9P in silver to go with my silver 50 2.0 Summicron. Personal taste, I just like the look of this combo, the "M9P Silver-Deuce" as I refer to it. Enjoy! I purchased a silver M9-P in September and have had my 50lux attached ever since. I absolutely love the combination - the camera comes with me everywhere. 6 months later, I still am incredibly pleased with the pictures and the purchase - absolutely no regrets. mdt2 Posted April 1, 2012 Author Share #11 Posted April 1, 2012 Thanks for the replies everyone. The M9P arrives tomorrow! I'm done shooting high school sports and really wanted a great street/walk-around setup. After researching for several months I decided the M9P is it. My Nikon setup was way too heavy for this stage of my shooting career + I have a really bad knee which will need replacement someday. Decided it was time to "simplify" and concentrate on "shooting" for me. digitalpowershot- Sure I could have waited for May 10, 2012 or any for other release date Leica will have in the future for that matter. IMO we each need to draw a line in the sand. I'm done playing the "gotta have the latest" game." It's just not for me anymore. I want to simply and make pictures. I'm confident the M9P will be more than enough. That's the beauty of this hobby/profession, we customize it to our own needs. Have a great day everyone. IWC Doppel Posted April 7, 2012 Share #12 Posted April 7, 2012 I do like your approach and logic, we can all wait for the next model, only to miss fun and good pictures today. I am currently waiting for a sensibly priced used M9-P. My brother phoned me today to say he was in Heathrow airport and staring at M9-P's in black and silver for £5k..... I came very close ! I feel the M9-P is perfect. I'm over and over again impressed by the beautyful colors (Kodachrom-like) it delivers. This camera is a keeper. Enjoy yours
