climber Posted February 28, 2007 Share #42 Â Posted February 28, 2007 After 33 years with a pair of trouble free M4's I recently made the digital plunge with the wonderful M8 and would never turn back. Simply an amazing tool! Â Stephen
bobrudolph Posted February 28, 2007 Share #43 Â Posted February 28, 2007 I have been very serious about photography for a long time, and I have used the finest equipment to photograph, but I have never had a camera that I enjoyed using as much as the M-8. I have a rather extensive DSLR kit, and have used it only for telephoto applications after receiving the M-8 in November. I would use the DSLR for macro if needed. The thought of not having the M-8 is out of the question for me. Bob

scjohn Posted February 28, 2007 Share #45 Â Posted February 28, 2007 Wilfredo, Â I am sure you are right. As I say, I would not return it. I only wish I had waited as you apparently did!
replay Posted February 28, 2007 Share #46 Â Posted February 28, 2007 Just picked up my 2nd black M8. After selling all my Canon gear and buying a few more Leica lenses. I have never enjoyed a system as much as this. There is no way I am letting go or sending back anything.
tjv Posted February 28, 2007 Share #47 Â Posted February 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'd happily swap mine back for a new Noctilux and my old M3. I'm totally sick of bands, both horizontal and vertical, IR and second guessing it. I realise I'm in a minority here, but I whole heartedly wish I'd stuck with film. I'm lucky I kept my M7, selling my other cameras, an M6 and M3. Havin said that, I know I'm being looked after. I'm very appreciative of the way I've been treated during "this troubled time." xrogers Posted February 28, 2007 Share #48 Â Posted February 28, 2007 I'm keeping. Also keeping film Leica, and at least for now, medium and large format cameras. Â Painfully selling my 5D---it's too good a camera to just sit on the sidelines. Â Until later, Â Clyde Rogers
ddp Posted February 28, 2007 Share #49 Â Posted February 28, 2007 Great thread - and there are a few naysayers here & there that would say the M8's problems are going to sink Leica and destroy the brand. I know a few cases personally from my dealer of the M8 being a buyers' first M system camera period. Now that's really saying something with what Leica has done. Â Far too often we get mired in heated exchanges in the what I see as teething problems. Guy(and others) can attest to this - the major digital players have had more than their share of issues with DSLR's....banding, back focus, TTL, magenta - you name it. Â Certain lenses are impossible to get now. People are buying Noctiluxes at a wacky rate - this comes from a trusted source. And with a renewed vigor in the M line, I'm willing to bet some are even thinking about film cameras to throw in now and again. Â And while I still personally shoot film in my M bodies, I fully understand why the M8 has to do well. After all....I eventually will "need" one.... blakley Posted February 28, 2007 Share #54 Â Posted February 28, 2007 Keeping. Gonna get some lenses coded. Still going to use the film M's of course, but probably not for color anymore. I may get a lavender lizard covering for the M8 from cameraleather.com, just to put a little magenta on the outside....
