I have been very serious about photography for a long time, and

I have used the finest equipment to photograph, but I have never

had a camera that I enjoyed using as much as the M-8. I have a rather extensive DSLR kit, and have used it only for telephoto applications after receiving the M-8 in November.

I would use the DSLR for macro if needed. The thought of not having the M-8 is out of the question for me.

I'd happily swap mine back for a new Noctilux and my old M3.

I'm totally sick of bands, both horizontal and vertical, IR and second guessing it. I realise I'm in a minority here, but I whole heartedly wish I'd stuck with film. I'm lucky I kept my M7, selling my other cameras, an M6 and M3. Havin said that, I know I'm being looked after. I'm very appreciative of the way I've been treated during "this troubled time."

Great thread - and there are a few naysayers here & there that would say the M8's problems are going to sink Leica and destroy the brand. I know a few cases personally from my dealer of the M8 being a buyers' first M system camera period. Now that's really saying something with what Leica has done.

Far too often we get mired in heated exchanges in the what I see as teething problems. Guy(and others) can attest to this - the major digital players have had more than their share of issues with DSLR's....banding, back focus, TTL, magenta - you name it.

Certain lenses are impossible to get now. People are buying Noctiluxes at a wacky rate - this comes from a trusted source. And with a renewed vigor in the M line, I'm willing to bet some are even thinking about film cameras to throw in now and again.

And while I still personally shoot film in my M bodies, I fully understand why the M8 has to do well. After all....I eventually will "need" one....
