graeme_clarke Posted February 5, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted February 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Several years ago my DMR went back to Solms for a sensor replacement and it came back with the file numbering reset to L101001. Since then, on occasions such as shooting until the battery is discharged, its started a sequence with a new file number - L102001 and so on. Â Recently its taken on a mind of its own - last week it jumped from L1160454 to L117001, then today it jumped from L1170097 to L118001 and on both days during a shoot and with the battery showing 3 bars of charge. Â When trying to restart the numbering, eg by renumbering the files to L1170098 and so on in the computer - the camera recreates a File L118xxxx and continues from where it left off. I've resisted resetting the file sequence in the camera menu. Â Help please! Does anyone know how to stop it creating a new file before the previous one has reached Lxxx9999 and how to restart numbering from a given point? guidowi Posted February 13, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted February 13, 2012 Hi Graeme, all these are interesting questions (probably with no answer) and also my DMR does the same but also more. What you will think the day in which you will find, in a photo sequence, one in the middle (and just one) with exif data as shooted in the right day, hour and second but... next year? This is an interesting question too. Â Guido

leicaman94044 Posted February 20, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted February 20, 2012 Hi Graeme, I think this has something to do with the internal battery in the DMR. I recall reading back in 2005 that the DMR has an internal battery that needs to be changed by Leica. I'm trying to find out if this is correct as my DMR's file numbering also went haywire after it went to Leica and the time and date also changes frequently at will even with a fully charged battery installed. I suspect is an internal battery that isn's user replaceable. Â Lawrence
