jaapv Posted February 17, 2012 Share #61 Â Posted February 17, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jaap , that's absolutely right, but I think there should be a better way of keeping capacity.I don't like changing the battery in stormy, rainy, or snowy weather, especialy when wearing thick gloves . It's not satisfying to think of being not carefully prepared, when the next photo might have been the shot of your life... The best way is of course a detachable battery pack that you can keep in your pocket and wire-plug into the camera. Leica does not offer it, but it should be simple enough to construct. I am slightly surprised that it is not offered yet by any of the cottage industries that provide practical Leica accessories.

Jaap, have a look at Luigi's special baseplate M-Mate 2 on leicatime.com. It allows a quicker change of SD-card and battery. Next step might be perhaps a wire-plug into the M by a battery dummy. jaapv Posted February 17, 2012 Share #63  Posted February 17, 2012 I know it; it is not (yet?) what I mean - and would buy.
hoppyman Posted February 19, 2012 Share #64 Â Posted February 19, 2012 Worth noting in this thread that the OP (Original Poster) has since reported separately that he has received his camera back with the sensor and associated circuit board replaced. Â The operating environment conditions for battery and camera were evidently not the problem.

For others, like me, the camera revived with a warmed-up battery so the problems should be (mainly) contributable to operating environment conditions. I can also image that the cardslot would shrink a little when very cold, and that could cause problems too.
Guest Posted February 19, 2012 Share #66 Â Posted February 19, 2012 Might it be useful to put a small handwarmer (f.e. http://www.theheatcompany.com/warmpads/handwarmer/handwarmers.html) between the bottom cover of the digital M and the new camera protector 14869 to keep the battery warm?
