Thank you to everyone who took part in January's Barnack's Monthly, which was again a great success owing to everybody who kindly shared their picture(s). And thank you in particular to those people who posted for the first time - I hope you found it a pleasant and rewarding experience and I hope it encourages you to share more of your pictures with us!

The Barnack's Monthly theme for January 2012 is: IN THE DARKNESS.

This means any picture where there is low light - for example night shots, indoor shots, dusk shots, shots during a lunar eclipse or ... whatever. It's entirely your choice so let your imagination run free! It would be a help if you give your picture a title so to help us understand your point of view but it's certainly not compulsory.

The rules are deliberately loose so go out and shoot with lines in mind or start searching back through those pictures you took oh-so long ago that you'd forgotten about and start posting. It doesn't have to be your best ever shot and it's not a competition so you might surprise the rest of us and yourself - it's just about sharing some pictures and enjoying yourself!

Everybody's welcome to contribute, any interpretation, any number of posts, pictures that have been posted on the forum before, any equipment as long as it and the photo complies with the forum's rules. Please post freely - especially newcomers and please remember there's no judging or criticism (good or bad) in this thread.

Great subject! Low light photography is hard to master. This is a shot of some hanging lamps at a outdoor restaurant late at night.

Please respect the opening post and intent of this thread that there is to be no criticism.:) The intention is to also encourage members who haven't posted before within an environment that they can feel certain won't draw criticism of any sort.

I also find it difficult with the excellent pictures in Barnack's Monthly not to post an expression of my appreciation of how good they are but if I was to post "Lovely picture!" for one shot but not another then it could be taken as negative criticism for the one I didn't comment on. Sorry that this sounds harsh but it's very important to maintaining a 'safe' environment for new posters.:o

By the way it's quite okay to enquire about a picture if you want to know where it was shot, the equipment used, what the subject had for breakfast etc.

Thank you for your patience and please keep those excellent shots coming!

Pete.
