DMR field monitoring

I understand that you can get instant previews and transfers using Flexcolor. For those of us who occasionally work in the field, not wanting to tug along a laptop, is there a way to instantly output preview to a field monitor? Just a preview, there is no need for live-view. For me, the built in LCD is bit small for some fine tuning on the field. And there is also a dead pixel. I know this beats the whole analog feel of the DMR approach, but if there is a workaround without removing the SD card every time (and transferring it to a laptop) would be great!

Hi Nicekyo, may be you loose less time transferring the SD card to a laptop than waiting for the picture appearing on the DMR screen :)

I love the DMR but it is really too slow.

Anyway I think there is no other way to watch the pictures on the field.

A small MacBook air 11" could be useful.

I agree with you (guidowi) completely. I came to the same conclusion in my attempt to install flexcolor on a friend's macbook air, and connect the DMR from firewire to a firewire/usb converter, the results were disastrous. There were driver issues, hardware incompatibilities, and when I did get it to work, the transfers were painfully slow. However, when I used my macbook pro 13in, it worked very well. The problem is the weight and ergonomics of the setup, it just didn't work well in the field.

In part, I guess I am jealous over my colleagues who runs around with their Canons and Nikons with HDMI outs that can be connected to any field monitor on a cine arm. But I do win 100% of the of the time when I mount the 50mm lens with wide open apertures, their mouths usually hang when I show them the depth of the picture quality in 16bit mode (on some pro monitors of course). It really does have a 3d feel to it.

I hate to think what would happen to your colleagues if you were to use a 280mm f/4 APO--Telyt-R. I know what happens to gallery owners when they see a print :D
